so what if a jock just pulls a horse up and nothing found - how does that work- he just says he felt something amiss - who can argue with him?

If you watch the race again there is no doubt that he stops riding after the winning post of the inside track my opinion it was a mistake and error of judgement on his behalf and a suspension is on the cards

Every horse is examined by the vets immediately post race. Sometimes they will be asked to pay special attention to certain horses though (mostly failed favourites). To be very fair here, there are many occasions when you CAN'T detect something immediately after the race, and it may only manifest much later. There are also conditions that may affect the horse at full gallop but not at any other time, and become difficult to diagnose without stringent tests. Sometimes they will never be diagnosed, and may only occur intermittently.
Instead of speculating, and once again falling into the trap of anonymous character assassination (this site's least endearing feature), why don't you wait for the outcome of the hearing?

IMO, track record plays a big part in these sort of issues.
It was too obvious to suggest anything sinister. Again, IMO, if he suspected something amiss with the horse , then it's his duty to take care of the horse (if I were the owner, that's what I would want him to do).
There will always be another race to run.

Sometimes punters that miss trifecta's or swingers are too concerned about their own loss to worry about the horse...sad but very true

Yes 2 cents you are 100% correct . Fradd did stop riding on CITY OF BELLS and clearly cost it 4th position. Considering he is a senior jockey it is disgusting. He deserves the full two weeks suspension for this. I hope the stipes saw this and will take action. He is setting a very bad example to the younger brigade with rides like this.

The major difference i have noticed in SA vs English racing for example, EVERY SINGLE jock in the UK is riding their heart out to the line no matter how far back or infront they are, as for SA racing, if a jock does not think he has a chance of reaching the horse in front he stops riding and/or if he has no chance of being in the money, then they also gear down, and not actually show a true reflection of the horses' ability in the race, which is the reason that form studying in SA actually means &%*$ all half the time

100% and then Trainer/owner/punter have no idea of the horse's ability - pushing out without the stick should be the norm and if not then the jock should report he felt something "amiss" as soon as he unsaddles. Why do our stipes not see this as a priority?
