Jockey Agent .....
12 years 7 months ago
I have been cornered by a few jockeys in the last 2 months (from the time chippy needed an agent) that wanted me to book rides for them, and one jockey that wanted to borrow money (can you believe it)....is their good money in this and is it a full time or part time job?I know Titch is an agent(not the malema type lol),doing it part time....Who can give me more clarity into this,in my job position i do have a few hours a day .....What is needed and is it worth it?

Z O, the better/hardworking the jockey is the easier it is. If your jockey is not very good and is also lazy it will be a thankless, poor paying job which I would leave alone.

.......Ziets unfortunately the jocks that are highly marketable already have agents.....those that do not decent agents are not worth it.....I'm glad to see that a jock like Randall Simmons is finally taking rides in KZN but its a little too late....had he been willing a few seasons ago he could have been riding in some top yards there.....

Ziets it is OK to do rides on a part time basis but the money is not great and needs to be supplemented by another income, I have been very fortunate to have worked with some great guys and really enjoy doing it, I have just started with Gunter and I have been pleasantly surprised how professional the guy is with feed back on all his rides after meetings where he is riding work and where I need him to ride work, this kind of relationship makes the job a lot easier and Im looking forward to the new partnership....
Muhti you are so right about Randall he is a very underrated rider and rides light as well hope he is supported in Durban when he travels..
