How does a THREE-YEAR-OLD filly , that has only won one race give weight to older multiple winners and still win? - A lesson for the teletrack presenters.

Mr H, the 2 TT presenters on at the moment are ramping and raving about horses coming out of the TSITSIKAMA STRIKE formline racing in R5. There has been 10 runners since with only 2 placings.....say no more

It's a sprint Magi - Millard once put a two-year-old Filly in a GR I Sprint and she ran 4th - Over ground yes they can get rolled but just because a horse is only a one-time-winner does not mean it can not beat multiple winners - 90% of the time the MR is the best guide

I understand the sprint part.... It was the weight i did not like, and I now times are not reliable unless raced on the same day... but as a guide to try and assess her win I saw she won in a fairly average time, with Princess Rue almost a second faster when she won over the Vaal 1000m's. Add to the fact that I believed that being the outside track PR had the better of the going... at the prices for me it was a 'no brainer'... but of course I had no idea how good / or not... she is . Well i found out 8-)

I too thought they were somking something - but they were right - job well done - that being said, I do believe Extra Zing ran below her maiden win, or else Negev may be over-rated?

I remember a filly Getaway winning a feature as a 2yo in the Cape against older horses but it received weight as it went to the front and never got caught over 1600m. There was a race called the John Skeaping Trophy in Gauteng where the just turned 4yos raced against the just turned 3yos in September. I think Golden Hoard was a 3yo when it won the race.

maybe when people understand that the horse did not run off a 92 it ran off a 79 they will realise that the horse actually isnt that highly rated..and is still very competitive in handicaps

formgrids.biz/subscriber/fgLengthBehind....VR&dist=1000&cnty=ZA

here this Filly beats a group of 21 horses including older horses by 5 lengths

Extra Zing's time not as good a Mboweni

Not an exact science but does often shown you the strength different races on the same day
