PA Payout in 3-horse-race

Can someone please tell me if your horse must win in a PA leg that has only 3 horses in the race, or can it come second ...or even third. The rules say PA pays to 3rd place no matter how many horses in the race, but does this extend to a 3-horse race? Thanks.

5.14.4 LIMITATION OF PLACE ACCUMULATOR BETTING:
The number of placed horses applicable to the Place Accumulator Pool shall be three, regardless of the number of carded horses/runners.

except in jumps where even in a three horse race your selection must actually finish the race

I've just been thrown out of the Salisbury PA when my only selection in the leg came second in the 3-horse race - and Tellytrack's Cecil mentioned that now we are out of the PA (Neil Morrice's). All the other previous selections had placed, as well as the following selections - and true enough, I wasn't paid out a cent.

This is from saftote re Salisbury.........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Place Accumulator 2-8
1st Leg : 4,5,8
2nd Leg : 5,6,8,10,11
3rd Leg : 4,5,13
4th Leg : 1,2,9
5th Leg : Field
6th Leg : 1,2,4
7th Leg : 9,10,11
Net Pool = R 144136.57
Dividend = R 159.20

So they are saying in the 3 horse field, ALL horses qualify......:S

Dear Dave,the threads posted by Sabre and Mr Hawaii are 100% correct in relation to the query.I have just spoken to Mr Cecil Mthembu and he CERTAINLY understands and knows the rules and he says that he never mentioned being out of the PA has mentioned within.Thank you.

Goodness Scotia! My sincerest apologies to Cecil whom I didn't mean to discredit at all. I'm a new punter and turned to this forum to find out where my misunderstanding was - of course I knew somewhere my facts weren't correct, that's exactly what I was asking for clarification on! Seems I mistook what venue Cecil was referring to (though still not sure why I wasn't paid out for Neil Morrice's PA but don't have my ticket anymore - its no biggie).
