The lebanese in south africa have racing in their veins and most are true racing enthuisiasts if you look at the number of past trainers jockeys and current ones, one can see the passion they have for the sport. One just has to look at names such as george azzie, bartie leisher, tony magua, robbie sham, craig magua, dominic zaki, tyrone zackey, derrick david, donavan mansour, joey soma, clyde basel, sheldon and craig peters, romeo francis, paul peter the list goes on and on. The lebanese grow up on the game and if one goes to to turffontein racecourse on a big day you will see the support the community has for the game and how much it means to them. Being lebanese racing is in my blood my great grandfather was joe abraham he was one of the biggest punters of his time he loved the game and owned horses trained by robbie sage such as honey chunk that won the then ok gold bowl he was always remembered with that giant cigar in his mouth and was a well respected man, my grandfather michael azar still currently owns horses in partnership with joes daughter sally abraham and also had great succes with horses such as west cigar and valley dancer, so yes racing runs through my veins and love it and Thanks to all the lebanese for all their support and loyalty to our sport of kings.

Have to agree with Buddy I had an early horse with his dad Robert, it was coupled on the tote with Creator ( I collected) pity I had the wrong horse!
I loved the way Buddy trained totally different to the normal blinkers on trainer in SA ( 4/6 weeks between races)

Badabing Badaboom , must agree with you west cigar, the lebs are a small communty in SA but have made a lot of contributions to racing in JHB! Always nice running into all the boys at the sands!
Sad to hear uncle Mike has sold his shop to the Peters, tell him and Robert that Sunil from Eastcoast said howzit
