My Type of Nurse

A Khayelitsha nurse, who allegedly got drunk on duty and ordered a sickly patient to stand while undergoing a blood pressure test, is still at work.

Mankayi told the Cape Argus how he watched “in awe and disbelief” as the night shift nurse, who reeked of alcohol, became abusive towards him and his mother, Caroline.
Mankayi had taken his mother to the hospital’s trauma unit after she had fallen ill with chest and abdominal pains that made it difficult for her to stand or walk. But the nurse, who was in a foul mood and had bloodshot eyes, got so angry that she ordered Mankayi’s mother to stand while she had her blood pressure taken

was also at emergency the other day at Provincial Hospital, fellow with drips in his arms was sitting their and then passed out and fell on the floor, he was lying on the ground for more than 5 minutes passed out and the nurses just walked past him eventually a porter with a wheel chair come and pick him up and throw him in the wheelchair and he sat there for another 90 minutes before anybody attended to him
I could not believe my eyes, did take a picture off him lying on the floor though.
These nurses do not feel a thing for a human being, as long as they get there pay check at the end of the month,
I watched the one that was booking the persons in at emergency (taking their blood pres etc ) in 90 minutes she managed to book in 4 people (the whole process takes not longer than 10 minutes) but she would book someone in then take a walk come back 15-20 min later do another one take a walk come back .............. meanwhile there is about 20 -30 people waiting to be helped!
I was there from 9h00 til 14h00 and sat there watching the staff,(nursing and admin) the amount of work they do is so low it is laughable, they walk around aimlessly, talk a lot sometimes groups of 5-6 at a time, and man dare try talking to them about helping you, the amount of flack and verbal abuse you get is unbelievable..

I know i'll get a lot of flak for this. but why should I stay quiet?
I put it all down to ANC governance
From being a healthy lady 3 days before Christmas [had a small op on her foot] at TYGERBERG,
sent to CONRADIE to recuperate,2 weeks later rushed to SOMERSET HOSP for an emergency op [the $%##^
forgot to clean & dress her wounds, said we could take her home.
2 weeks later I had to rush her to GROOTE SCHUUR HOSP for another op,after which we took her back home,
was told it's best for her. My Mother really suffered.
When she finally passed...I said...thank you GOD for relieving her of the pain
It took them 3 months to kill my mom.
People wonder why i'm anti anything goverment

My three week stay at Wilgeheuvel Hospital, in Roodepoort, after a procedure to remove an infected bone in my right foot, comes to an end tomorrow, and although it is not a state hospital, I cannot praise the nursing staff too highly. They work 12 hour shifts, are mostly highly trained and skilled at what they do, and are the essence of compassion and caring. It's a profession which requires tremendous dedication and they work tirelessly and cheerfully, often lifting one's spirits with their humour.
I know that these particular nurses may not reflect the general state of affairs at government-run hospitals, but a good friend of ours recently had a similarly pleasant experience at Edendale Hospital in Pietermaritzburg, which is a state hospital, and where, she said, you could eat off the floors.
It takes only a few rotten eggs to ruin the reputation of the nursing profession but it's no wonder that SA nurses are so much in demand abroad.
Thank you, ladies of Wlgeheuvel. You have been true angels of mercy and have made my long stay pass surprisingly quickly.
