But Hibs, those msgs are easy to ignore, not messages from regular posters who know that info given by me is against the rules and insinuating that races are not being won on merit...
@soodum, did u know that a starter is an "official", so it is very hard for the players to have a go at him as then they are going against the NHRA who are bigger than 95% of the game... Just a thought
We have asked many times, how can jocks + trainers be fined but those that work at start cannot be? Should work both ways?

Remember the good ole days when the crowds thronged to the racecourse on a Saturday and if a jockey got beaten on a short-priced or well backed favorite what followed in the Parade ring when he mounted for the next race?
I remember champions like Michael Roberts, Basil Marcus etc. had their parents, family etc. sworn at but being the true sportsmen they were, they never let it get to them and they went on to greater success with that attitude.I'm sure Karl Neisius in the Cape also endured the wrath of the public and on one occasion when he had lost on a few favorites and had everything sworn at, he promptly booted home the next 3 or 4 races!
Luckily nowadays the fans are no longer on the Racecourse, cud be more connections than racing public.

Chip - if I may comment ?
I think it does the transparency of the sport a great deal of good to have someone as candid as yourself posting on the ABC. I think most of us at one time or another have wished we understood what went on during a race and to have some who really is in the hot seat tell it like it is, not only helps to understand the logistics, but also takes out some of the frustrations of seemingly odd results.
I understand that rules are rules and operators need to be circumspect about certain things, but I think your willingness to discuss and explain the game from an insider's perspective is absolutely invaluable. In terms of adding to the perceived integrity of the game, I thing your contributions are incalculable.
Please keep it up.
(and if you get any more nonsense PM's, expose them and the Clan can kick 'em in the shins !!)

Hi Chippy & Clansmen
I have stated on other threads on this site wrt info etc.
Chippy you were probably contacted because being a Jock you do have intimate knowledge of the Horses that you ride, both at work and in races. I admire your condemation of the offer but I also believe that there are Jocks that fall for the temptation that was offered to you. I also believe that this sort of thing does happen and always will, why was Ray Curling commonly known as the Godfather, more recently the very competent Gerg Cheyne in trouble.
If Horse racing was an amature sport things would be different but being a multi million rand industry all sorts of devious persons will conspire to make or take advantage for menetary gain. Lets all be honest as to who knows how a Horse really is preforming/working except the Jockey that rides the Horse. Top stables will tell you that they rely heavenly on Jockey feedback and that is why they use top Jockeys.
So Chippy I commend your post in this regard and please continue to give us your honest opion on Horses that you hace worked or ridden in races. It is trulely enlightening to have this info before making a decision of what to put my hard earned money on. The buttom line is that I must ultimately decide what to back and the more 'real' info I have the better my chances is to make a profit.
So in inclusion Chippy please do keep up the posting your opions within the restrictions of your profession. I for one do appreciate your honesty.

Chippy thanks for that snippet of info.... good to see that the string can launch from Ashburton and I have noticed the improvement ...as for the virus thing ....isolation imo is more detrimental than casual or regular exposure..... how else can one build resistance if not for exposure....horses from different yards and training centres are bound to infect one another in floats and at race days....besides I would never reccomend an unhigeneic hell hole as an alternative.....:S

I seem to remember someone calling the stipes to say Marcus would pull a fave a while back. I wonder who the caller was and thier agenda.
