Muhti, Mr Kethro + his team have been pro-active this season by sending the Main string "down" to Ashburton. Horses look better + seem to be more consistent.
Unfortunately Reeves is quiet at home and puts in winning work but leaves his antics for raceday
Like anything in Racing, boxing at the track costs more money + I don't believe it helps because all boxes are near parade ring and the horses know they are there to race.
Also going into anothers stable is a quick way to pick up a virus...

1400-1600 is his right distance, he doesn't like head gear + he was only slow out of the gates because of a mistake the starter made,..
He runs from any draw because he doesn't like horses around him + pulls, so i drop out and we hope to hit the front with 100m to go because he hangs both ways.

Chips you mention the starter made a mistake,on july day mdk was furious saying that somebodies arse needs to be kicked in durban cos the starter is always messing up and nobody does anything about it.

How frequent is this happening?

KZN has 3 starters

It depends who is starter for the day + can happen as much as 9 out of 8 starts!!!
1 chap is Very good at what he does + has the support of jocks but others are lacking in start procedure and people management.

Unfortunately the last time I brought this subject into public I was gagged so I will leave it to MDK to solve

PE jocks have been waiting since August for Fairview pens to be safely padded
