Villas-Boas v Redknapp
12 years 11 months ago
Can ABV improve Spurs after Harry. I know a lot of spurs fans are not happy with ABVs appointment.
Did the chairman sack Harry for football reasons or personall reasons.
Where the Chelsea players carrying to much power and resisted AVBs methods to soon.

ABV is seemingly going to be allowed to build a team of youngsters at Spurs, can`t see the chairmen being that patient

AS a Spurs fan I welcome the AVB appointment. Only time will tell but after the transfer window you will see the reasoning. Harry would never be able to attract the quality that AVB can. Can't believe that Liverpool are shorter than Spurs in the betting.
Harry was offered an extension in the January window but waited for the England Job...unfortunately did not work out for him. Levy is not a man to be messed with.

Spurs conceded 5 goals on 3 occasions last season. They lost 5-1 at home to Man City, then lost 5-2 at Arsenal after been 2-0 up and 13 points clear of them and then got hammered 5-1 by Chelsea. Spurs fans are obsessed with finishing above Arsenal, and have failed for 19 seasons. Spurs only buy on the cheap and get players on loans. They can never compete with the likes of City, United, Chelsea and Arsenal. I cannot see them finishing in the top 6 as Newcastle and Everton will surely improve. AVB wants to be seen as the top man and will not play 2nd fiddle to the players. If he had stayed at Chelsea for two more weeks then Spurs would have been playing Champions League this season as Chelsea would never have beaten Napoli in that 2nd leg.
At least Spurs fans have something to do on a Thursday nights this seasn. Channel 5 will be abuzz.

Chicken, I can agree with you on City, United and Chelsea for buying power, but where does Arsenal fit into that equation. Can't remember the last time they bought anyone paying over the odds. Anyway, as said above, check in again after the transfer window.
As for the last comment, Spurs were also in the Europa league last year so nothing new there.

Not knocking them Shadley but it seems to me that they want to do well but like Arsenal they dont want to over spend. Unfortunately nowadays you can only win big by buying big. 2013/14 season should be interesting as FIFA will only allow you to spend what you make thus the likes of City, United and Chelsea will not be able to spend these vast somes of money and pay these outragous wages any longer (well at least until the players contract expires). Thats when the like of Liverpool, Spurs, Everton ,Newcastle and Arsenal will have that chance of gaining massive ground on the so called elite clubs.
