Magi... just dealing with your actual words... comparing Dumpy to what you obviously believe to be incompetence is hardly a nod of approval... but to me you miss the point bud... it is about professionalism, and he needs to improve, learn the stuff before the races - its not that difficult with the number of races he does per week.

Bumpy paints a very good picture..............just not the one happening at the time................lol

Seriously though, what is not clear is that he obviously had some sort of problems (assume health) that caused a deterioration in his commentating. He then took a break, returned but he has never been the same since ,but as usual in racing circles ...........it's a state secret!

The industry seems to be unable to grasp that secrecy is always viewed with suspicion, and normally aggravation!

I recall an 8-10 horse field where he called the winner wrong - And please explain how he calls a horse that is not even carded - in that race?

no flash this guy has been bad for years - Do you think he does a good job? I have often said that he should be moved to race day interviews where he would be excellent - Just because some people think he is an institution does not mean he is good at his job or good for racing - I spent many hours in totes and punters hate him because he gets the results wrong so often - I cannot understand when it is so obvious that the guy cannot cope that some people feel he deserves his job just because ....? No Flash I don't want anyone to lose their job and in 25 years of running my own business I have never fired anyone but if you think his work is good then you are deaf and blind.

And to say I don't like him is foolish as I have never met him - I don't like the way he calls results incorrectly but I do think he has a place in Racing

Flash please mate Phumelela know how many mistakes he makes and he has never been fired - So it will be my fault if he loses his job not the people who keep him in a Job that he has trouble doing?

Maybe its just ''too much'' for Dumpy calling all 9 races with 16+ runners in each race? ... Why not employ Smiley to maybe call half the races per meeting and take some ''pressure'' off poor Dumpy?
