We have Laurel Canyon today and she is very well - however obviously not the right race for her - but there are no 'right' races around, so we are taking a chance - with the light weight the plan is to jump and go and hopefully hang on for a place

Thoughts on the other PA races:

R3: Mr Alfonso easily holds Brompton's LAd on their last run - but BL has the draw today and Mr A does not - so it could be closer between the 2 - for value I like Kashan as the Kahal's mostly like the sand and he has the plum draw
R4: Motown has done well in stronger fileds in KZN, but that won't be a factor if he does not take to the sand; Road Warrior has placed 4 times out of 4 runs over this trip, so is a definite backup for me in the PA despite the wide draw - only other one I could find is Chestnut Charger who may improve on the sand - strange that Striker is not riding RW or CC
R5: Lots of 'if's' here - if Secret Life behaves at the start, he should go close, if Follow the Piper can beat the draw she is certainly the right one, if Moroccan and Super Trouper takes to the sand, they could feature - so the safest PA inclusion for me is The Plunderer, who at least has run well over this trip - and he holds a couple of these on that run - even being slow away
R6: Formation looks a difficult ride in that her final run needs to be left as late as possible - looks to me like she stops if she hits the front too soon, so I'm backing her up with Full Moon Rising who has good course and distance form - only other danger imo National Danzig now carries 55 kg's and does look better over 1600
R7: Competitive handicap, but New York does look to have a lot going for him and is backed up in the P6 with Master Entertainer who can also go well if he takes to the sand; two real roughies to consider is Mo Da Di Du from the in-form Naidoo yard and Defeat the Desert - both of these ratings are coming down steadily and either (or both) could surprise trying the sand for the first time
R8: Absolute nightmare of a race - Wizard's Charm may still improve and could be the right one, but take the field in the P6 and JP if you can afford it
R9: Super Boy has improved beyond all recognition as a 5 yr old - after taking 39 runs to win his maiden by a short-head, he really ran away from the field last time - if he repeats that run today, I think he will prove hard to beat and does seem very good value to me again. Lightning Bird also comes off a good last run, but she is drawn on the outside, which have proved to be a bit of a problem in recent weeks; others with obvious chances are Kwaaiwater, Maji Moto and maybe Pavlova

i think 4-1 for road warrior in race 4 is a very good prize, the only horse with sand form, stable hot, only concern maybe the draw
