Banks can suck my b#$ls!!!!

So it seems my South African horse racing punting days have come to an abrupt end!!!!

Either my bank (Bank of America) or Standard Bank have stopped me from using my DEBIT card as a way to transfer money to my betting account.

I know it is not on my banks side as they believe "Marshalls world of sport" is a sporting goods store

It is quite amazing to me how these banks believe they can tell people how to spend their money.

Perhaps it is for the greater good, time to grow up, stop spending money and start being responsible.

My presence here will probably wilt even more now.................................

Shit Tommy,know a few guys that couldn`t deposit into their UK betting accounts when playing poker in Vegas..

No online gaming/poker in the states now,same in most european countries as well now..

I think perhaps the pressure is being put on by the Americans. They don't want any betting turnover to be running through the banks. No transactions where betting of any nature is involved.

NOW, here inside the US they have come up with novel ideas of how to use your bank account but circumvent the actual ruling.....that doesn't make any difference in transfers from one country to another though.

No big deal, just another bump in the road of freedom

Guess I will have to take more of an interest in American horse racing? :S

Many banks and other financial institutions are refusing outright to accept business from US customers because of US government regulations.

Of course, it's not like it's better here, just different.
We're not permitted to use our own money to fund Betfair accounts.
We need government approval for international financial transactions.
I couldn't import a few thousand rands worth of silver because I didn't have a customs client number (a relatively new innovation) and I just couldn't be bothered to jump through the hoops required to get one.

I even have a situation right now where a PC game company won't change my country of residence without proof (utility bill etc.), even though it was me that informed of the original error (which was not based on any proof). They say it would be against the law for them to change it. :
