Defintion for the diff types of races

I am battling to find a list with definitions of the different types of races that there are e.g. Juvenile Maiden Plates all the way through to Grade 1's.

For example what are Conditions Plates, Pinnacle Stakes and everything else inbetween.

Can someone possibly give me a link to a website or alternatively spell them out for me.

Thanks.

What does 'black or non-black type' mean exactly?

It is how races are listed in a sales catalogue to give people an idea on the class of the family.

Winners of Graded races are printed in BOLD CAPITAL letters, while horses who have placed in the same races are dosplayed with Normal Bold

I once posted before - the phrase black-type is actually an anomally or error. Everything is printed in black type. As Jack Dash says it should be "bold type" either in upper or lower case respectively.

Here's something else which I have wondered and if anyone knows - why do they sometimes say "bred in the purple?".
Why purple?. There is no purple print, well not that I have noticed. Is royalty synonomous with purple?
