Yesterday I bumped into a mate who has been playing poker semi-professionally for about 3/4 years,of which 90% has been online.
I asked him how he was handling the "void" before local licencing.
Much to my surprise he informed me that almost the entire list of previous Piggs subscribers play on the Silversands site and more importantly(and surprising) they are funding it with SA credit cards.
The warnings to banks of the penalties for supporting interactive gambling were severe ,so why are banks completely ignoring it.
I went to the site and, sure enough,was invited to download the platform,and that my "bank" would be in SA rands with facilities to fund it from my Mastercard.
It seems extremely strange to me.................very similar to the supposed govt surprise and indignation that betfair had SA customers! The reserve bank has been monitoring credit card deposits into Betfair for years.
