I remember when Derrick David won the apprentice championship beating Karis Teetan the Zim wins were taken into account. Karis was unlucky to loose the contest in the last week of the apprentice championship.

then how is it that Quinton Riddle doesnt feature on the log? I think it has been changed,as gavin and derek davids winners have definately not been included in his total

As I mentioned, we called the Jockey Club and they said the website is inaccurate. They also said Zim winners do count and have to be added manually, but they hope to correct website. All very confusing. Took a few calls to the Jockey Club and slowly moving up the chain of command until we got an answer.
I hope its the right answer after all that.

Zim winners count as they always have, even in the "isolation" period between Zim independence in 1980 and the normalisation of relationships with SA in the early 90s. Racing in Zim has long fallen under the ambit of the SA Jockey Club (now NHA) and is basically a province of SA in racing terms.
I can remember a time back in the 70s when title-chasing jockeys used to go to the now defunct Bulawayo track to try and rack up some winners as it was the only place in Southern Africa that raced on Sundays until we started it in about 1994 or so.

Yeah, Magic, those were the days my friend... Michael Roberts vs Basle Marcus vs Robbie Sham.

Those were the days indeed...especially as Bulawayo was the first racecourse I ever went to, way back in 1972. I was 13 years old and I didn't have to pretend I was 16 or something and, yes, it was on a Sunday. One might say they were way ahead of SA in some ways, back then. We even had television long before it came to this side of the Limpopo...(
