Sellers are for the rags(poor horses),the winners are sold to the highest bidders after the race..
Uk claimers : The horses are weighted according to the price put on the horse by the connections. The lower the weight, the lower the claiming price. Any horse can be claimed after the race.

a few reasons
1: trainers in sa dont like losing horses
2: the way medication works in sa , trainers would be reluctant to run horses until a certain period of time elapsed
3: trainers in SA would need to learn handicapping

We had claiming races in Cape Town some years ago when Mike Wanklin was handicapper. Poorly supported by trainers.

i think it would be a breath of fresh air in this country !
There is such a big horse population . Surely owners would benefit from it ?
I could see Clinton Binda taking full advantage of this !
Easy , maybe send the Madam to him for a short spell . I don't know the man but he has sure "shown up " a couple of trainers !

I bought four horses out of those races, and all four went on to win for me. (Only once each, but never mind...

Clinton Binda is a top trainer.. The way his horses crack their maidens are unbelievable sometimes..
At 1stage himself and Nooresh were on fire, sort of like a wild fire..
Winning races left, right and Caching..
