thanx louisg for clearing that up....and i am one of strikers top fan....i still think he is one of south africa's most balanced jockeys(gavin lerena...not far behind)...and what i meant by confidence was maybe misconstrued....and definitely striker rides a lot of false favourites..just on reputation....my question was:if a jockey thinks he is not on the best horse..do u think he rides them accordingly....i've heard many trainers say to their jocks especially if they are on unfancied horses.....ride them with confidence as if its an odds on shot and she will give u that kick...just thought that there could also be an opposite to that remark...thanx anyway louis....ps...strikers still the best

Wayne went into the ring. Wiese told the Botha's to have a bet. Wayne said "how can you tell them to have a bet when it cannot possibly beat number xyz. Mitch asked Wayne if he was going to pull the horse up to ensure xyz would win. Wayne flipped his lid and told Mitch to find another jockey. If the truth be told they are both very volatile characters.

the outcome of the inquiry is irrelevant, he was carded to ride the horse and never did so. that information is vital to punters. If the trainer had "an issue" with his ride post race he could have had every inquiry under the sun. The jockey SHOULD have ridden the horse end of.
If a jockey refuse to ride a horse because in "his proffesional" opinion there is something amiss then I fully support that but in the case above it appears like childhood behaviour by both parties

Mitch just post and tell everyone what happened,or maybe you should go fishing and think about it.

a simple equation as a jockey or any sportsman you are a professional you get paid to do a job not to shout your mouth about all over even if your manager or trainer is right or wrong you get on your horse do your job give your best and if you are beaten then fair enough but never be negative before you are even started .A jockey is paid to ride and a trainer is paid to train and speak to the owners who pay so if he feels that the horse is right to punt so it be the jockey is there to listen to instructions if he gets beat following them so it be he has nothing to answer to the trainer simple (

I wonder if there had been previous issues between the pair? We all know that Wiese goes through jockeys like I go through Aero's.
