He made his comeback in a mile turf event today at Gulfstream Park. He was coming off a 13 month layoff but was still sent off as 2/1 chalk for the race.
He unfortunately lost 2 lengths at the start and was checked about 3 times coming around the top bend. He was forced to race about 6 horses wide for the best part of the last 3 furlongs and still just ran out of gas to run 3rd.

If you guys remember this is the colt out of Ginger Sea (saf) by Western Winter bred by Barry Irwin. He was also thought to have been quite close to Animal kingdom in work at the beginning of their careers.

Hopefully he returns to the barn in fine order and comes out to win a few shortly!!

I'm almost sure though that he was compared to Pluck and rated superior to him.

Another stakes winner for Ginger Sea bred by Barry on Saturday Howe Great Race Replay

He is my early fancy for the Derby next year. He was not stopping at the end of this 1 1/16 miles and he has won on dirt before. Not sure he compares to Animal Kingdom at this stage of his career, but he is not a bad sort at all!!!
