The country's maximum security prison, C-Max in Pretoria, is standing empty because a museum is being built in its execution chambers, according to a report on Wednesday.

Its 300 prisoners were moved to correctional centres in the Johannesburg area earlier this year, and only expected to move back "home" next March, national correctional services commissioner Tom Moyane said in Parliament.

This was because the execution chambers, which had not been used since the death penalty was abolished since 1996, were being turned into a museum, according to Beeld newspaper.

Anyways thank God most of SA works for someone other than the government so their is hope.

They should rather restore the execution chambers and start hanging these violent fokkers who are released after their violent deeds into the streets. Rehabilitation is a myth.

guys guys, see the bigger picture!! SAF needs to build sustainable income, this hopefully can be done by building and expanding on a tourism market. Albeit a political visitation market such as Poland and Germany do with the concentration camps there where millions visit every year.
