Recently after I took a hit with bad results, I even started a "your worst day ever" thread to help myself feel better. Well on Saturday at Turffontein I got it right, I made a 39 unit profit! I picked the following.

winners amongst a few losers.

Louvre got 7/1(tu)

Veto got 24/1(tu)

Tender Twilight got 3/1(tu)

Royal Overtute got 16/1(tu)

Post your recent wins and brags here!

About two and a half decades ago won just over 100 grand on a pick 6 at Clairwood. The ill-fated Face North won what I think was the Mainstay but I will never forget the anchor - a grey called The Earth Moved.... and nothing big since :(

But my best (although not the highest winnings) about three decades ago was when I was 21, I outbid the Mayor of Bulawayo in a card-call for the eventual winner for the Castle Tankard. I "bought" Strike It Rich for 100 I think still Rhodesian dollars and it paid out over 1000.The eventual SP was 7/2. (I still remember the mayor turning his head at me, looking and saying something like "who's this sh*t).....

Very nice story, Mac - whenever you get a chance, you may want to talk to Roy Magner - he trained Strike it Rich - I think that horse won 12 races - he still says one of the best he has ever trained

About 13 Years back at the Vaal, caught 10% of a p6 for R14.40, collected 46K... Rhys Van Wyk rode 2 winners in the p6 and I bankered both of them... It was a time when my wife and I had just bought a house but the property didn't have a wall around it so most of the money went into building one... and of course a small holiday to celebrate:)

Is it realy possible to hit the big time with a low investment?
One liners perhaps?
I normally load up ending with a small profit being a % Im forced to.
Altho with 72r perm the JP was over 14k.
But in general I seem not to believe that a small perm could do it.
Starting in the mindset perhaps?

wednesday meeting at greyville (before lights were erected) i took a dutch mate of mine (1st time he ever at races) to the course (we lived in a block of flats 30 seconds away).. we there prior to race1.. we watch the horses in parade ring..then make our way thru the buliding to watch them canter down.. i see on a table some tickets folded in half (think to myself thats strange as no races run yet), pick them up & they "live" tickets for race 1. never forget the name of the winner GREEN HAVEN... those few tickets made me about 150 odd bucks... good start to the day, we bought beers etc.. 2nd race horses now making way into parade ring, i had to go to the loo, my mate asks wat he must look for when checking the horses in parade ring... i say anything thats looks "bouncy & wants to race... wen i joined him i asked him wats good... he tells me the number 3 bcoz as the jockey (randolph) who was helped to mount by trainer (bosch - only 1 runner for the day)landed on the saddle the horse bucked him off... and the number 3 was BOUNCY & LOOKED LIKE HE WANTED TO RACE....as the horses left the parade ring we again went thru buliding to watch canter down... number 3 just looked sooo good. anyway i put 50 eachway on 3, bankered 3 in swingers....race is off (all this time i didnt look at his odds or win/place dividends, dunno why!).. we watching the race, im only looking at shocking pink with yellow star, pink cap...they hit the short straight & i can see the number 3 making his run... as they come past us (we about 100m from finish line) i see the 3 is running on strongly.. i look up at the greyville board & 3 showing R99 win.. man i go crazy shouting him home.. i hear craig peters calling COASTAL STAR (no3) as winner...mate n I jumping up n down going crazy - he says to me cool we got places on it.. i replied fcuk the places we got wins on it!!...number3 COASTAL STAR WON paid about R120 a win & bout R9 a place... all bets were pay pay.... i made close to R8000 that one race.... and boy oh boy did my mate & i get motherless drunk!!!!....:D

My biggest win was in December 2009 when I caught 12% of a R330k pick six with a R306 outlay., for nearly R40k profit. Come very close to one or two big ones since but losing doesn't count!

I remember, many years ago, taking a PA with 6 bankers and 2 horses in the last leg. The 6 bankers won and the last pair filled 1st and 2nd. It didn't pay much but felt good knowing that I had picked a straight line pick six (only paid about R1k), even though I only took the PA.

Recently I've enjoyed hitting the first couple of legs of some long term multiples, so they're not home yet, but I'm sitting on tickets with NZ to win the RWC @ nearly 28/1 and Man Utd to win the Premiership @ 75/1. Small outlays, but satisfying.
