Morning Clan, we have Espectro running today in the second was very dissapointed with his last run. His work at home has been good but he isn't bringing it to the track. We will see how he takes to the sand today but the 1200 meters on the sand might be too far for him. We are just hoping for a reasonable run today and hopefully finish in the first half of the field.

Thanks Happy Horseplayer for your ratings they are very useful for compiling exotics. Today's card looks far easier than Wednesday's with usually spells trouble but with the Pick 6 carry over it pays to have a go and there are some standouts in these races. I agree with the 2 Cents on USO and Woodruff / Mansour should open and close the Pick 6. Worood (hopefully get it right today) and Bouquet-Garni (Excellent sand debut) should also go close today.

I have found a lurker today who I have a feeling could upset on his maiden win in Race 8 Moongazer won his maiden by 8 lenghts, 3 horses won directly out of that formline. His next start ran 1.5 lenghts behind Nazran and is 5,5kg's better off with Nazran on that run and in his last run had post race distress so draw a line through that effort. He will definately go into my Pick 6 and if he wins he could make the Pick 6 pay.

I am doing 2 Pick 6's today one bankering the Bouquet-Garni and another taking the field in that race.

Hope you have a good days racing.

Nazran is typical of the sand syndrome....his last run was theoretically 5 lengths better than the one where he finished behind Marching Band but a repeat ? who knows?
How the handicappers decide on the line horse in many sand races must be a nightmare.....I know it is for me but mine are for my purposes only, and not open to scrutiny.
I think the surface is more inconsistent than the horses though!

Trying two approaches for the Vaal pick six.
First going with the naps and bankers suggested here, and fields in the other two legs.
Second ticket goes short in the two field legs and tries to beat some of those bankers.

2 * field * 5,6 * field * 2,3,6 * 5 = R660 @ 10% = R66
1,2,3,4,5 * 5,9 * field * 2,14 * 2,3,4,6,7 * 5,8 = R2000 @ 10% = R200

For Kenilworth, I'm going with a bigger perm than I like, but didn't want to cut anything out.
You know what happens when you do that. ;)
Basically going two bankers and wide in the other four legs.

16 * 1,2,5,6,7,9,10,16,17 * 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,9 * field * 2 * 2,3,4,6,7,9,11 = R4032 @ 5% = R201.60

I know they were probably a bag of spanners but that was a great run from the winner there
