Scotia on the downhill slope :(

Good morning all and hope you are still alive, kicking and keeping warm.

what happened to sunny SA?

I have sadly been to a few funerals lately and not many weddings, so can only equate this to a downward trend in life.

In October I will hit the big 60 and I probably look older due to my rather hectic and most enjoyable social life.

My family did ask me last year "what would I like to do for the big one" as not many shopping days left in life.

After some thought my answer was going to be the ARC but I eventually went for the "Cherrie Classic" the trip was planned last year and now the time has come. I am sure you have heard of the ARC but the Cherrie Classic is a bowling tournament sponsored by my brother-in-law at his local bowling club. the trip will include a couple of days at the Edinburgh festival, my mums birthday and seeing my sisters new babies, not forgetting meeting Hibby for a few drinks in the flesh rather than via a computer screen.

I must say I enjoyed the email from Umlilo which compares old folks homes with the Holiday Inns and might be worth consideration.

NO NURSING HOME FOR ME!!!

No nursing home for us. We'll be checking into a Holiday Inn!
With the average cost for a nursing home care costing $188.00 per day, there is a better way when we get old and too feeble.
I've already checked on reservations at the Holiday Inn.
For a combined long term stay discount and senior discount, it's $59.23 per night.
Breakfast is included, and some have happy hours in the afternoon.
That leaves $128.77 a day for lunch and dinner in any restaurant we want, or room service, laundry, gratuities and special TV movies.
Plus, they provide a spa, swimming pool, a workout room, a lounge and washer-dryer, etc.
Most have free toothpaste and razors, and all have free shampoo and soap.

$5 worth of tips a day you'll have the entire staff scrambling to help you.
They treat you like a customer, not a patient.
There's a city bus stop out front, and seniors ride free.
The handicap bus will also pick you up
(if you fake a decent limp).

To meet other nice people, call a church bus on Sundays.

For a change of scenery, take the airport shuttle bus and eat at one of the nice restaurants there.
While you're at the airport, fly somewhere. Otherwise, the cash keeps building up.

It takes months to get into decent nursing homes. Holiday Inn will take your reservation today.
And you're not stuck in one place forever -- you can move from Inn to Inn, or even from city to city.
Want to see Hawaii? They have Holiday Inn there too.
TV broken? Light bulbs need changing? Need a mattress replaced? No problem.. They fix everything, and apologize for the inconvenience.

The Inn has a night security person and daily room service. The maid checks to see if you are ok. If not, they'll call an ambulance . . . or the undertaker.
If you fall and break a hip, Medicare will pay for the hip, and Holiday Inn will upgrade you to a suite for the rest of your life.

And no worries about visits from family. They will always be glad to find you, and probably check in for a few days mini-vacation.

The grandkids can use the pool.
What more could I ask for?

So, when I reach that golden age, I'll face it with a grin.

My hobby still keeps me busy and as normal some great posts

1 Awards.
2 href=" www.africanbettingclan.com/forum/phorum-...15/read.php?3,199993 ">More tote questions.
3 London's burning.
4 Our competitions going well

I must say I thought the awards were great and a positive injection into racing to lift the spirits during these gloomy times and the new jockey sponsorship was very well received,
I would also like to mention at these functions I always get the same comments e.g. if the Clan was less nameless you might get a better reply from the racing industry. I look at it this way, its not my product I'm trying to defend and if people feel passionate about the game they will reply and work together to try and save and support the industry.

As far as betting opportunities, times have never been better with the EPL back "in running", rugby, golf, tennis and not to forget horse racing from all over the planet.

York stages the Ebor Festival

Some big races to look forward to at the York Ebor meeting:

Wed 17th they have the Great Voltigeur where Seville 13/10 will have plenty cheek from Sea Moon and Namibian, the International Stakes where Await the Dawn can win again however with Midday and Twice Over in the race it should be a cracker.
Thur 18th has the Yorkshire Oaks where I make Blue Bunting a good thing at 5/2.
Nunthorpe is on the Friday and Hoof It, Bapak Chinta and Sole Power will head the betting at around 5/1
The Ebor is always a nightmare for punters and Saturdays show piece will be around 8/1 the field with fancied runners include Lost In The Moment, Saptapadi and Modum

Cirrus Des Aigles

Ascot on 15th of Oct (a day to remember) where the Champion Stakes could see a clash between Await the Dawn, Cape Blanco and Cirrus Des Aigles............... WOW!

In addition Frankel could be stretching his legs at 4/10 to lift the Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

Have a great week and keep well wrapped up, especially the old folk

Good punting and may your God be with you

scotia

Scotia 60 Never! a mid 20 year old trapped in an older body more like it :)-D.

You will only be 60 for a year so have drink, enjoy it and make the most of every second. We all tend to look at our expiry as a day in frail care, but there may just be a bus with our name on it, en route, much sooner.

Give Hibs a pat on the back from all of us for all of the effort that he puts in to make this a great site!
