Ant,I have PJ exactly the same as the official rating BUT 5.5 Kg less than that @ 2000m +???????
There is not a lot of Data/runs at those distances so it is inconclusive but I have to discard at the July distance based on that
I have Bulsara in exactly the same position,so if either do see it out I'm in the dwang.(td)

DD is a relatively new kid on the block, but he is hungry..... HUNGRY for that July win, but alas not to be. Pity....It's not quite fair to say Alcaponee that if DW fails it's o.k........ if DD fails, fingures would be pointed ................... but in the end IGUGU will give them all carrots !

Frodo & I had an unraced filly..... put an appie on, he won 1st time out. kept the appie on he won 2nd time out.

She then won GR 2 FILLIES NURSERY........... we kept the appie on.

we then went for GR1 Durban july day....THE GOLDEN SLIPPER............. who do we put on ? this is a GR1 race.......... we left the appie on...result SHIT IN.

TO ME LOYALTY IS EVERYTHING.............it should work both ways jock / trainer combination .......... the kid had done nothing wrong with this horse, so why jock him off just cause it's a GR1 race ?

This horse won over 750 G....... cost price 50 G...... who was that kid Devin Habib !

Some nice memories - AS actually got over ok from the draw - was then bumped out of the race around the turn by a MJ/CL import called Bridget's Academy - still ran on to finish 5th 5 lengths behind the superstar-to-be Sun Classique

As to the topic, I think it is a personal choice - and it's hard to comment without knowing all the facts - for me personally I agree with Elivis - stick to the guy who has done the work

His Nibs. Got his run in the July after winning the Greyville 1900 making it 3 wins on the trot. Broke his maiden tag in Bloemfontein.
The year before that His Nibs won the last race on July Day.

Yes i agree loyalty is important but when you are faced with a good chance of winning a Group 1 race who do you turn to? 11 time champion hong kong jockey that has won every group 1 in HK or the up and coming rider that has done the preparation on your horse, how will DD take the pressure, will the other jocks be able to intimidate him in the race, will he be able to make those split second decisions that win and lose races !? Who knows but as an owner i would stick to getting the best possible rider for my horse and hope DD understands my decision as one day it might be him that is replacing a less experienced rider.
Just recently Tony Cruz sent a horse to Singapore which had a very good chance of winning, he stuck to his regular but still relatively inexperienced jock and on the day the jock cost the horse any chance of even running a place, instead of sitting midfield as per normal he got carried a bit wide by an international group 1 winning jockey so he decided to go to the front, needless to say the horse stopped rather quickly.
Sorry DD but your time will come.

What if Derek had ridden P.J. ? he knew him better than any visiting jock. Alcaponee " If DW fails it will be acceptable " I THINK NOT.

They should have left the kid on the horse finnish & klaar...... no one ever remembers who runs 2nd in the big races OTHER THAN THE CONNECTIONS. Sometimes Kharma comes & bites you in the arse. Forever there will be questions " what if........ we'd left DD on the horse.
