I have to agree with pirates in that Super Storm will be a big runner at these weights IF he gets in and of the 3 yr olds Galileos Destiny looks the right one - Igugu MAY find it tough at the weights imo and depending on how he goes on Saturday, Perana could be a danger as well; those 4 are on my shortlist at the moment, while we wait for the final field and the draw

I might be absolutely way off but I am looking to Perana for the Gold Cup - He seems the type that may just gallop and gallop forever - MDK did it with 3 year old a few years back - name escapes me.

Strange that a jockey has not yet been declared for igugu??? Surely Anthony would have been itching to ride this horse after his comments of late?? Perhaps he is waiting to see what happens on Saturday or perhaps he is worried about the weight too?

Perhaps it is just early in the morning and I'm making mountains out of mole hills ;)

Ancestral fore was it??? Then there was a Thunder something quite a few years back....Think he went hurdling in England??

Can't disagree with you more about Perana.....He is nothing more than a Grade 3 horse who was exceedingly lucky to win that Victory Moon stakes in one of the most bizarre run races I have seen in many a moon. He is most effective up to a mile imo and will be no factor.......

Just my thoughts :D

Thundering Star - 2007 Canon Gold Cup - thanks Formgrids www.formgrids.com/subscriber/fgHorseHist.aspx?b=y&hs=THUNDERING STAR,ZA

Even in the Victory Moon he looked to be a one paced, dumb horse who may want to go distance. The Gold Cup attracts a diiferent type of Grade 1 horse, not necessarily super stars and not necessarily the usual grade 1 suspects.

Only pushing this in the hope that it improves my Charity Turf Challenge chances. I have two dud entries in my list:

The horse that got an Igugu of the throat and Dan Delago. Why I chose Dan Delago is still a mystery. I believe I was thinking Galileos Destiny but chose the wrong horse.

I'm not 100% sure, but did Delpech not say 'the best FILLY he ever sat on' - so maybe he would prefer a 4 yr old colt to a 3 yr old filly at these weights - and another plum rides awaits someone (Muzi or Shezi - not sure if he can get down to 53?) on Galileo's Destiny - Marcus will probably struggle to get down to below 54 so likely to stay with Bravura? Is Jeff Lloyd coming for the race - and what about Striker - I read somewhere that he has applied for another stint in Hong Kong and if he gets it, it may be advantageous for him (tax wise) to stay out of SA for now?

Delpech says that about lots of horses, I remember him labelling Lord London as the best 3 year old of its generation a few years back...(:P)
