Internet Service Providers
14 years 1 week ago
We all use the internet..........to bet............ to communicate on this site etc.
I use Mweb and I am very unhappy with my speed and stability(I use uncapped and the fastest available Telkom line, although Mweb uncapped 'shape' it)
Any comments on the best service/s available? Any other mweb users comments?
Whenever I try to improve my service issues ,Telkom and Mweb blame each other!

Hi Rob only use Vodacom and find them 100%
The one problem I did have is that I have an ADSL in the bedroom and have never used and went past a telkom shop and asked to switch the line off. No problem, ID and they did it on line.
Then the fun started it also cancels your email connection which I use on iphone and laptop, in a panic had to run from shop to shop to load new codes/passwords etc
So if your kids leave home, dont go into the bedroom and change anything.

Rob had the 3G (red card) then they gave me one with box with a cord, now I have a stick like a memory stick, think its called hsdpa/hsupa?
But very fast, they say it was the latest and fastest, it has a thick red band the previous level had a thin red band
It also searches for the best signal, go to a vodacom shop (the lady in Woodlands has a lovely body) and could have sold me anything, in fact the upgrade was free.
How is that for a technical reply.

“Uncapped” speeds are too slow and unreliable for use with “in running betting” etc.
The people at Imaginet Internet Services are very helpful and will explain to you why this is.
I use Afrihost and G Connect as service providers – data costs R29 per gig and is the cheapest I know of.
With Afrihost there is a 2 for one special (2 gig for the price of one) the last 10 days or so of the month.
Speeds are excellent.

No extra charges, no contracts.
With Afrihost you can get one gig and top up as needed at same price during the month.
GConnect has added advantage that you can use your account with 3G and at WiFi hotspots as well - very handy when on holiday etc.

I also use Afrihost, very happy with them. Currently using the R179 uncapped (shaped) service, with the slowest ADSL line - not ready to pay for the faster ones.
Also just got a Vodacom 3G card (moved house and waiting 5 weeks - and counting - for Telkom to install my ADSL). Speed is impressive but think I got a dud USB modem; it keeps disconnecting itself at random intervals.
Anyway, can second the post by fingers. Afrihost are well priced, top ups are easy if you're on the fixed packages, and service is good. They responded very quickly by phone when I posted a help query once.
