The Scottsville meeting is a big one that will attract many people to the course or off course betting shops so it makes sense to have another meeting which they can bet on between races rather than staging the meeting when the totes won't be as busy.

I cannot believe that the gold circle directors allow the Phumelela directors to get away with what they do.We have a situation that out of the winter season Kzn races on Sunday (a holy day) and also on Tuesday (holy day for hindu people ) and when it comes to race meetings on Champions day only Gauteng races.Now we have Phumelela taking control of a meeting on comrades marathon day to split the turnover.I think the new chairman and directors need lessons in running a company

I won't comment on the holy day issue except to point out that this is a secular society. People are free tol practice whatever faith they choose, but not to oblige others to live their lives according to said faith(s). Trust me, you wouldn't want to live in a Theorcracy, where religion dictates everything.

However, what gets me is that Phumelela get stand alone days for their big meetings yet ride piggyback on big KZN and Cape days. Maybe it's a backhanded compliment to Gold Circle?

Magic,Im not getting on about religion but everyone knows the the indian community who are religious will not punt on a Tuesday so KZN takes a knock.Newmarket
raced on a Tuesday night and Kzn on a friday night.You cant compare the turnovers!!So the owners lose bigtime because you cant increase stakes without turnover.The same applies to Sundays So my point is why have our directors stuck to Tuesday nights when they admit Fridays are far superior.And saturday turnovers are double sundays.Ask Owen Hefer to confirm Hollywoods turovers with you.
