Anyone ever been to the Brown's drift tote? I believe that Dan the old barman from Club tab at Greyville works there now. Going to the coast next week and would love to know if it is worth going there. Also there is a Marshalls in ballito that isnt too bad.

When i go down on leave FOURIES Edwin Swales( 5 min walk from my home) is the absolutely a pleasure to spend my day.Kevin F, Kevin, Anand always friendly and acknowledge patrons even when they are seen 4-5 times a year, otherwise back in JHB for nite racing i am on the FSC site.

Weekends are spent BETTINGWORLD in Rosebank, better than my local bookies across from my place.

In East London we have some spots:
  • Vincent tattersalls - poor facility - no pub - Quite a rude bookmaker - 3/10
  • Gonubie Hotel - Bit far out of town for us, but very friendly bookmaker (Vernon) - nice pub next door - great view of Indian Ocean - can order decent meals as well - 7/10
The Royal - in a very seedy part part of town - never feel safe there - well supported, however - nice crowd hanging out there - pub available - Good bookmakers - 6/10
Hollywood Quigney - parking sometimes a problem - nice pub - friendly staff - lekker crowd of horse racing punters - but often overcrowded by too many soccer betters - my favourite by a mile - 8/10

Agree with your comments on Holywood Umgeni. Really good food + quick service from friendly staff.

I have been there a couples of time while on holiday in Durban...punted a good few winners too (must be the sea air, getting rid of the Jhb cobwebs), holiday money paid for.

Sufficient secure parking, separate sports betting seating, which the Nigerians seem to love, and suits horse racing punters fine.

And a tote players dream...no queue's...no jostling, no F#$*&%G asshole shoving himself again'st you, hoping that the inefficient tote operators, would get their bets in on time...... No sports bettors, blocking access to tote operators.

Phumemela, wake up. punters are been driven away by bad service, you are evolving ( wrong word...should be devolving, into another government BEE fixation....no vision, no foresight, hell bent vengeance and on self enrichment (no problem with self enrichment, but you do need to put in a little EFFORT)......the customer comes first is no longer a buzz word.

At the end of the day it all boils down to how management/mismanagement, can make or break a company/country....CASE STUDY1...ZIMBABWE

I tried to help her(and others) more than two years ago - Waste of my time - Won't be caught again by the Phumelela express! WHAT'S THE POINT OF SENDING IN A SECRET SHOPPER WHO KNOWS ZERO ABOUT PUNTING AND PERHAPS LESS THAN ZERO ABOUT CUSTOMER SATISFACTION????

Wonbyamile -

I am not sure if you are referring to Britannia at the end of Umgeni Road close to the North Coast Road on-ramp. If you are, then their food in general is tops.
The braised mutton is to die for.
