Petition the Min of DTI, National Gambling Board and Gauteng Gambling Board to direct the industry to do so in terms of legislation which calls for transparency and.......... (wait for it!), safety of the gambler's money and HIS integrity (not that of the industry!.... damn!)!

That's the recommendation of the Main Report into Gambling which has been a directive to the NGB since inception.

If not, take all of them to court for derelection of duty (and watch them roast!).... that's a solid case, if ever!

I had a good chuckle at this statement:- 1) At least 10 times in the past week, I have seen the reverse happen, ie a horse pays more at the end of the race than when they jumped. If the tote was being manipulated, then these late bets were placed on the wrong horse?

Any crook with an above average IQ would also place losing bets. It's just common sense. This reminds me of the story( I think it was a current trainer and his uncle) years ago. He used the phone at the course in PE to call his uncle in Jozi to place a bet immediately after the race was complete. no realtime commentary or computers or cellphones. The kicker was he also placed losing bets to not make it to obvious that he was cheating, but he would always make a profit.

My question is with the commingling. In what format does this information get exchanged and at what time. Surely the AUSSIE tote only closes the race after the off. Is it not possible to change this file before it gets added to the pool? It seems a great coincidence that these variances only happened after commingling was introduced.

I will put my money on the take-out being the culprit.......after the rogues have robbed the pool,there is too little left for the punters!

Interesting,I think,that of all the theories put forward on the forums,neither "P", the RA or the NHA has responded to the request for details of the take-out(especially any additional margins in respect of co-mingling).....thats confidential!

Remember,until corporatisation,the take out did not need to provide for dividends to shareholders!

Greg... to me it gives indication that the horse is fancied big time.. i use the tote win/place payouts as a sort of guide to back on the bookies!!

Very clever strategy Wonbyamile - Not sure if that was intended by Phumelela when they opened the system to all and sundry but good luck to you for finding a use for the tote win pools!!!

I use toteopening payout as a guideline onto which horses the all to come bets go and a little stat for all in the last 72 races I watched (in all the centres ) 46 of horses won that opened as tote favourite (the sample was only from race 3 onwards)try it it works but bet it at the bookies for value test it it work some of these horses drifted out to 10/1 and more and still won
