In 2 days time...

It will be nine years since the twin towers were destroyed,i remember thinking,wow this could mean all out war/end of the world/anarchy etc etc etc.

But for 99.999999% of us nothing has changed,terrorists are still terrorising nations,Governments are still ruling/invading foreign lands,racecourses are still being closed and we still can`t back winners at Scottsville..

Is it too late?

I imagine somebody had the right idea?

As far as I know from Sky News, he not only abandoned the idea for 2010 but for all time as well. I reckon this is common sense coming to the fore at last, because no good could ever have come of it. And while this is not the place for politcal rhetoric, let's never forget that there were also Muslim victims of 9/11 (and I don't mean the hijackers).

Let's pray for universal understanding, tolerance, respect and peace; no individual or belief system is perfect. Neither is any human as consistent with him/herself & others as much as an animal is to its nature.

BUT:
If anyone, I am really upset with the pastor for having unilaterally cancelled the burning at the last minute (just as much as I would have been so much happier if those drinken idiots made a U-turn just before smashing their planes into the twin towers and sadi 'We were testing your nerves!' or something!)

I booked the entire front row seats for all members of the clan to get a grandstand view of the burning event, now, I am twiddling my thumbs in front of my PC!

I ordered a truckload of braai packs (no need for starter and charcoal!)- what do I do with it as racing's in KZN and there's no late flights available?

Kulula will not cancel the bookings or refund. However, they have big-heartedly offered me a free braaied chop or two on my next flight with thewm!

End of the day, we are children with our toys; religion (Bible, Koran Torah & Bhagavad Gita, etc) are people's most prized possessions in terms of belief systems- we gotta respect that, even if we do not see it that way.

We also have to respect (if not consider) the power of faith and prayer where people have had mirculous recoveries/experiences that science cannot explain!

So, in that context t, it's not the same as burning the Computaform! Or, using Rizzla paper to light up!

Yes, Umlilo, we can. But personally I would rather keep my feelings about religion off this forum, not because I'm ashamed of them, but because they are strongly felt and irrelevant here. There are plenty of suitable places out there to discuss such things, so I prefer to shut up before I do offend someone.
