Racing Post ,.....

Frankie Dettori has asked racing fans to make his farewell tour a huge celebration as the world's most famous jockey declared his intention to retire at the end of next year.

Dettori, who turned 52 on Thursday, will fly to America next Thursday before launching a ten-week stint riding in California, where he intends to end his extraordinary rollercoaster career by competing at Santa Anita's 2023 Breeders' Cup.

There will be many more international excursions during Dettori's final year but Britain's three-time champion jockey has confirmed his focus will be most firmly fixed on excelling in his adopted home, where he will continue to work as John and Thady Gosden's principal jockey.

Also racing Post.........

Davy Russell, one of the greatest jump jockeys of all time, has retired from riding at the age of 43, with Gordon Elliott hailing him a legend of the sport.

The announcement arrived at Thurles on Sunday after Russell won the featured Billy Harney Memorial Irish EBF Mares Novice Hurdle on the Elliott-trained Liberty Dance – the 1,579th and final winner of a stellar career that spanned more than 23 years. His first winner came aboard Right'N'Royal in a qualified riders' handicap hurdle at Gowran Park on May 20, 1999.

Remember Kieron Fallon calling Frankie a weak rider... Frankie took a deep breath and became a superstar
