In that final test against India it looked as if AB had done damage to his fingers and I thought that he would be in trouble but it appears that he came through unscathed. Pity that he has to play keeper as De Kock just needs to up his test batting. AB far better to the team playing in the gully, point or covers. Just hope that the thrashing that they took in India does not play on their minds too much.

must be the only keeper batsman I know that bats in the top 4 in test cricket...de kock at seven would be perfect as he opens the batting so could handle the 2nd new ball and he is a game changer ..must be very difficult for him and rousow to watch from the side..also feel for steven cook and Andrew puttick who have opened all their lives and consistently get runs in the 4 day game every year but overlooked by selectors for van zyl who bats 5 or 6 for his province..opening the batting in tests is a specialized job

Can't see Van Zyl being selected for all 4 tests unless he gets off to a flyer. If the ball swings in Durban ten SA will be backs against the wall against Anderson. I can see SA winning the series 2-1 but only if they can get Cook and Root pretty early as England bat well when they do. Compton and Ballance are both slow scorers and will easily get bogged down thus Cook and Root will have to go after it and that will be the Proteas opportunity to get them quick (if that makes any sense)

Who are the quicks coming over for the test's? (Other than the obvious 2, Broad + Anderson).

Imvho, I think they have missed a trick. Finn would have been a menace on our tracks. I thought his come back performance was very good, and my 1st impression was how he was going to trouble the saffers... Anderson (and he is good, figures speak for themselves), but he is just not the same bowler out of England. Plus he has lost a yard of pace. I just don't see him troubling us much. With these quicks, Broad will probably be best performer, with Stokes (who I enjoy watching with all bat, ball and in field), close up behind.

I also feel that Philander missing through injury is a blessing in disguise. Although he was never the quickest, he has dropped a few yards of pace, so he is just not as effective with his bowling style(still good but not the same). Morkel will trouble Cook up front, But the trouble for SA, is ROOT... They going to have to find a way to get him out...

Anyway, that's just how I see it...

The Big Bash starts tomorrow, the scorchers going for a 3rd title in a row

I see Kallis and Hussey are still playing, they must be in their sixties?

Some good viewing from your offices :)

Finn is fit and in SA now. Root will always use up a review as he never believes that he is ever out (just like Trott). Steyn and Morkel just need to bowl sort at him. Get Cook and Root early and England will struggle to get 200

I really enjoy this comp, the commentators with their interaction with the players who are all good players. Massive crowds and unlike the IPL this is done and dusted in a little more than 3 weeks. Darren Sammy at Hobart Hurricanes will be a massive player for them, they are my tip to win it.

I enjoy their sense of humour Craig. Big Bash by far imho the best 20/20 comp going as they don't overload their teams with foreigners.
