That sounds like the plot of a crap movie, except that in a movie the horse would naturally have won! PS - this business in SA runs on agologies like a Boeing runs on jet fuel. The cock ups are never ending, but as long as there is some excuse everything is peachy fine.

Melbourne Cup winner Viewed put down

AUSTRALIA: Viewed, the 2008 Emirates Melbourne Cup winner, was on Saturday put down after complications from a twisted bowel, reports the Herald Sun.

A winner of nine of his 36 starts, Viewed, owned by Malaysian businessman Dato Tan Chin Nam, provided trainer Bart Cummings with his 12th Melbourne Cup success when holding off the Luca Cumani-trained Bauer at 40-1 in the Flemington feature two years ago.

"It's bad news. He was a very good horse and what's really disappointing is we hadn't seen the best of him. He was just coming good," Cummings told the Herald Sun on Saturday.

"I'll have to try and find another one as good now."

Last year, thesix-year-old became one of few horses to claim both Melbourne's famous cups when he stormed home along the rails to win the BMW Caulfield Cup.

He then started second favourite in the Melbourne Cup and finished seventh.
