Just a thought?

Why cant we arrange a few Sunday meeting at Randjies could help alleviate the current bottle neck maybe focus on 3 yr old colts and geldings or wherever else we have excess nominations?

I will take a picnic spot NOW!

Why dont they re schedule the 1.5 million race if they are giving up 2 weeks to get the track ready for night racing,as they know how many horses will be effected by not getting a run?

Not sure it has anything to do with the lights?
Thought it was the track they are working on?
Could be wrong.

Hi Dave

I am corresponding with John Finlayson via email on a query he raised, but no other calls.

I do split races when the demand requires it - as evidenced by the fact that I split the Maiden 1200m (Open) at Turffontein tomorrow (19 Sep) as well as the Maiden 1200m (F&M) at the Vaal on Thurs next week (24 Sep) - 10 races on both cards.

As indicated to you when we chatted, there are significantly more races scheduled (80+ more) in the next programming period (Oct to Jan) than the corresponding 4 month period last year due to the introduction of three meetings a week on the Highveld for the core period (Oct to April) which only came into effect from Feb this year.

You'll also be interested to know that the number of fixtures on the Highveld for 2010 equals the highest ever number staged in the past 20 years or so. There were only 126 Highveld fixtures in 2007 (after Newmarket closed) but I've increased that to 140 for 2009 and further to 148 in 2010.

Hopefully the extra fixtures will help alleviate the bottle neck together with my policy regarding splitting races as often as the stakes budget allows when the demand is there.

Best wishes
Patrick

does this mean that

Keeping this in mind >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

in 1997 when we had almost double the number of horses than we have now..
....the number of fixtures on the Highveld for 2010 equals the highest ever number staged in the past 20 years or so...

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

that the horses in 1997 we better than the lot we have now...

75% left the maiden ranks as 2 year olds....by 1 Aug 1998?? when the turned 3.
75% of almost double the amout of horses we have now..

or the all ran as 2 year olds, won their maidens..and retired..

like i said you split the maiden 1200 metres but only 12 CAN TAKE PART..12 years ago you could have had 20 taking part in each race..so 40 horses running as opposed to 24..

But we had almost double the horses then..

and now we have almost double the races...and half the horses

there should be less maidens now..
more races and smaller fields

then,,20 per field and less races..1 winner

I think in 1997 they raced them as 2 y olds...retired the ones that never broke the maidens.....

I think in 2009 we did not race them as 2 y olds..now we stuck with >200 3 y old maidens...

Well Patrick has told me that there are exactly 3 races on turf for 3 yr old colts and geldings over the next 5 weeks (although 1 of those is at the Vaal which is not in Jhb nor for that matter Gauteng).

What a f.g disgrace..although they believe they doing a great job.

Andre what % of SA's income is generated in Gauteng..would you know roughly?

For my bussiness 78% of all operations are done in Gauteng.

NO..

But I know this..

only one country in AFRICA..namely Egypt has an economy larger than that of GAUTENG...

iow...all other countries in Africa do less turnover than GAUTENG..

What is real funny...

when the CEO says..we are going to establish ourselves in AFRICA...
rather do organic growth in GAUTENG..right under your nose..
