Besides the trainer from the UK the dogs seem to be barking quite loud at the moment

Al, imo this is quite pointless, but where do you put Charles Laird's runners today; if you classify them as being from Gauteng, these and the lone ranger from the Zackey yard are the only ones left in KZN today; so one would expect the KZN horses to win most of the races, or not.....?

Not sure that i understand the question, but Charles lairds runners are form Gauteng. There are representives from the cape who have left runners behind to pick up the easy races from the KZN boys.
A comment was passed previously on this post something along the lines of the worst of the JHB and Cape horses can beat the KZN trainers Ref. Kokorotsop post. Point - not true and we do have good trainers but they need some owners healthy bank balances to support them.
I dont buy the theory that money cant buy good horses which is what this thread boils down too

Al, you are obviously convinced that the KZN trainers are struggling because they dont have the money to buy the best; that is your view and you are entitled to it. Others on the forum (like me) differ; from the stats I deduct one can deduct that the KZN trainers are not holding their own, and I don't think mpney plays as big a role as you think. Good horses come from all price ranges; witness JJ; my question is why the KZN boys do not seem to be able to lay their hands on one of these 'bargain buys' turning them into big earners? Bad luck, or bad owners, or bad training methods?
My other point is that even if the KZN trainers manage to win most races in KZN in the next few months (a theory that you are seemingly trying to prove by keeping a tally of the races won by trainers form each centre), this does not prove anything, as the KZN season is a think of the past and most of the raiders have gone.
Anyway, we all have different opinions and that's part of what makes racing the fun game it is.

This thread has been great for reviving my interest in this website. I thought we going to be dragged back into debates about the RA,PGE, lights at turfies and everything else relating to the center of the racing universe (Gauteng).
The point of this thread is in its heading. KZN trainers have failed to win a grade 1 this season since Outcome. Yes this is terribly dissapointing and yes it is time for KZN trainers to start making their presence felt. This does not mean however, that they are useless and cannot even train dogs to bark.
The negative commentry on KZN trainers is an over exageration and in a lot of ways is as ridiculous as me trying to prove a point by posting results for regional winners per race.
I am still not convinced that money cant buy good horses. If this were true then why do the Marcus Jooste's of the world even bother with sales local and abroad. Why dont they just shop from the bargain bin and hope to fluke a good one every now and then. After all the price they pay for some of the Aussie imports would get them a fair lot of throw aways.
Finally, lets also be realistic, who is a trainer going to phone first when he finds a good horse; the owner with a 10% share in a 6 year old MR67 or the owner with a decent bank balance.
Shot Garrick Mike and Frodo - its been really entertaining.
Good racing to you all.
Go KZN go. Look forward to the Cape summer season. KZN trainers please make a plan to travel.
