While they're not handicaps, those races are NOT run at level weights.
In his last start, a 70+ Pinnacle Stakes race, Hear The Drums gave between 1 and 8 kg's to the rest of the field.

Sure, he was 'well in at the weights' but he was still carrying sole top weight.

Fair play to the connections - they found somewhere he can turn out and have a paid public 'work out'.

Although, with such a MR rating he will find it very hard outside of PE but as I say fair play to the connections I wish them well.

Jim.

Sabre what are you talking about?
Last two runs Hear the Drums carried level weight with field.
Friday he only carried 1kg more than the next bunch of horses.
He is a 115 and the next best 105.
Not even in Johannesburg will you find so many pinacles made up to suit one horse.
Magic good for racing?
Nobody will back him the odds just to small.
P6 Banker yes everytime.

Thats your opinion Magic lips.
I'm not going to try and change it.
It's not good for racing.

Last point on this subject of Hear The Drums.
No races are made for this horses to run without Hear The Drums.
No merit rating 105 etc are available for the next three months.
If you want to run have to compete against Hear The Drums and run for second place.

Big dilemma Kobus. Can't go to the other centres because the MR's are too high, Can't race in PE because the programme is up to shit. You need to campaign for those MR's yo be in line with ability countrywide imvho.

What would happen if there were less than 5 noms for these Pinnacle races ? As long as you settle for second prize money the problem will persist.

Nobody is forced to race against him and anyway he has been beaten in PE plate races, if admittedly not often. It is only a bad thing if sprint handicaps rated 100+ are being replaced by pinnacle plates, not if the plate races are 'extras'

BTW, on balance PE probably has the least shitty programme in the country. Part of the reason is that they don't have "seasons" and can have a balanced programme over all 12 months of the year,

Kobus, my apologies if I was wrong. I was using the info as shown on the Formgrids website. According to www.formgrids.co.za/subscriber/fgRaceRes...x?rn=2009-05FW467,ZA , on 29 May 2009 Hear The Drums carried 63 kg's while the rest of the field carried between 55 and 62 kg's, 1 to 8 kg's difference.

You've gone from saying:
> To many Pinacle races only made for him.

to:

Last time out he gave 1 to 8 kg's. The time before was a MR handicap. The two runs before that were a Listed Stakes and a Gr1 (in Kenw). The race before was a Pinnacle Plate where he gave between 1 and 9.5 kg's away.

Like I said, well in at the weights but certainly not level weights.
