Racing Operator's conditions confirm that (be in a hidden way):
1.16 Draw Procedure
1.16.1 Subject to conditions 1.16.2 to 1.16.5, inclusive, the Barrier Draw shall be
conducted in terms of the Rules.
1.16.2 If, after the barrier draw has been effected;
1.16.2.1 a horse is omitted from the list of entries for any reason and is
subsequently included;
1.16.2.2
1.16.2.3 a horse is subsequently included for any other reason;
then a draw shall be randomly allocated in respect of the horse so included
and all other horses drawn the same as and outside (higher than)
the randomly allocated draw, shall be adjusted outwards (higher).
1.16.3 Similarly, in the event that a horse is removed from the list of entries for any
in the list of entries and drawn outside (higher than) the horse removed from
the list of entries, shall have their barrier draws adjusted inwards (lower).
1.16.4 Any horse removed from one race and included in another race
shall NOT retain its original barrier draw but shall have a new
draw allocated in terms of Conditions 1.16.2 and 1.16.3.
entries are re-opened for a race and a horse is subsequently included;
reason after the barrier draw has been effected, those horses remaining
1.16.5 Under no circumstances, shall any race where barrier draws have been
already allocated, be redrawn.

Thanks Shrek - I would love to be able to view the head on for both races so that I could settle this in my own mind.
The problem with incidents like these is that average Joe punter myself, East Expo and thousands of others view this happening and say where is the consistency.
I agree that East Expo may have made inflammatory remarks but that aside, I do not believe the authorities and experts should be dismissive when tackling comments made on these incidents. Mathew recently commented on You be the Judge not to over complicate racing matters. I agree 100%. We therefore cannot expect every punter to know every racing rule in existence.
All we ask as punters is be fair to all parties, be consistent and if you are happy with your decision, make available to the punter the evidence you based your decision on. Head on replays on the Internet would be a lovely start.

Al, the Rules and the Stipes reports are freely available on the NHA website.
It explains everything in detail.
(also see other thread on this list, from NHA's Vee Moodley, who goes out of his way to assist).
If 'punters' have a problem with decisions, they should check facts first before letting rip.
That would be fair to all parties, as you ask for.

I do appreciate Vee Moodley taking the time out to comment. I would like to point out that this report was not available on the NHRA site this morning. I was hoping to compare the report from 10/04 to yesterdays report which has now been posted on ABC.
I ask you to refer to the intention of this original post i.e yesterdays race vs race 1 10/04.
KM please understand that some of us are posting to draw on the knowledge of yourself, Magic and others. We are posing questions which are being discussed in totes accross SA. It sometimes feels, by the replys we are given that those in the know turn their backs rather than answer the question. Almost a "you dont know what you're talking about" dismissive approach.

Al writes: Almost a "you dont know what you're talking about" dismissive approach.
If it comes over like that it's not intentional.
My original response was to a poster who said something like 'if it was a big stable the outcome would have been different'. That was ridiculous.
As far as interpretation of the Rules is concerned, it is essential that you read and think about the Rules.
Then we can talk.

On her toes - a fair winner, whether or not she interfered, she still would've won in my opinion! Backed Cocoa beach, and im satisfied that my horse lost fairly!!!

Have you not read the reply from KM above, it explains quite clearly what happens.....same as any other race with supplementary entries.

I like the way Cocoa stayed on and came back at the finish. I think she will come into her own as the season progresses and I hope she's ridden as positively as she was on Sunday.
When do they allocate her a stall gate?

KM,you are very ignorant of the fact that different views make for greater knowledge.I respect eastexpo and als comments, they are valid.On her toes should never have got to keep that race.Speak to MR.DRIER and hear his comments, he sure knows what he is talking about.

Mr Drier's can hardly be objective in this matter, seeing that his horse would have won the race had an objection been upheld. He knows his stuff, of that there is no doubt, but there is equally no doubt that his opinion on this subject would by definition be biased. The last person whose opinion you seek in such circumstances is one who stood to gain materially, whoever he or she might be.
