Indeed. Casinos flourish on this very principle. Casino gambling is sucker gambling, but that doesn't stop these establishments from thriving at the expense of racing, which is the "brain" game. That said, I cannot imagine that my enthusiasm for harness racing will ever get off the ground.

Somebody should give them a book I wish I had written, called "Up the Organisation"
This book was written by a man appointed to run Avis in the USA after 13 years of straight losses.
He tells a story of a meeting in the midwest where somebody advocated pricecuts in the small range of rentals where Avis had by that time increased their market share and were bigger than Hertz.Barry will tell you that every large USA company has a person of Polish descent. After much discussion the Polak said"where I come from us Polaks call that pissing in the soup"

Indeed casino is sucker gambling, so is betting on horseracing given the current odds from the tote and local bookies compared with Betfair. just not worth it.
20 to 30 % difference on most markets ??

At least with horse racing the punters gets to decide when the price is "right" or "wrong." This, obviously, is because the outcome of a horse race can never be determined with mathematical precision, whereas every type of casino wager can. And they invariably pay out under the true odds. The zero on a roulette wheel is an easy example. In theory, at least, you can win where the odds reflect an opinion of the likely outcome, not a mathematical certainty which is always under the odds.
