Turffontein - Moves to the Vaal Main track

Please note that the Turffontein meeting scheduled for tomorrow, 28/03/2026, has been moved to the Vaal main track.

A further 12mm of rainfall was recorded at Turffontein overnight, while the Vaal received no rainfall in the same period.

Both centres have, however, experienced significant rainfall over the past week.

A track inspection conducted now has shown that the back straight on Turffontein Standside is waterlogged and has surface water.

An early decision has therefore been taken to relocate the meeting.

Distance changes are as follows:

•  Races 3, 4 and 5 will now be run over 1200m
•  Races 6 and 7 will be run over 1700m.

Race times remain unchanged.

It is competitive - I know I sound like 'rinse and repeat' - in the first I think Moana at the weights (also drawn better) is the right one; in R2 the Tarry inmate will be hard to beat; R3 there is no stand-out - perhaps a bit of Gathering Winter; in the 4th Highwayman Harry is overdue (but who knows if the brother to Buffalo Storm Cody is any good as well as ready); in the 5th I'd go The Last Duke and Lead the Charge as the leading lights; the 6th is open - perhaps Mocha Frappe the value; not sure if king Harald is that good in the 7th, so Gerbera is the value (with Chronicle King as back-up); in the 8th perhaps Fiery Rose, but obviously Precocious keeps on winning (perhaps the Handicapper has now caught up with him); She's All Mine in the last for me

Enjoy

At the weights the right horse won. Thought Within Reach was a bit stiff, waiting for the cut away looked to lose momentum and only got going in about the last 50m or so.Be with Within Reach next time out irrespective of the distance, looks to be above average.
