Overcast, southerly headwind. We had a bit of rain on Wednesday but course will be fast.
Race 1 Ygritte is the one to beat. Will be interesting to see how Captain's Ransom half sister does.
Race 2 Quandary brings useful KZN form and if not bothered by the wind on the outside should go close. Sir William two good runs at Durbanville and is a big runner.
race 3 Aspect has been knocking on the door and gets a good draw. On pedigree should relish the step up in trip. The one to beat. Storm Boulevard debuted at Durbanville over the mile from the worst draw and yet managed to run just 3 L off the useful Professor Snape. With natural improvement is the main danger.
Race 4 Very competitive race and nothing would be a surprise winner. I'm leaning towards Ma Black and Different Face but will go wide in the exotics.
Race 5 Love in Winter stepped up last time and can make it a hattrick. Ragnar Lothbrock should go close this trip. There are others with chances but those two my short list for exotics.
race 6 Another very competitive race, complicated by some coming back from breaks. While she may lack the class of the others, with just 54kg rank outsider Sonic Burst is my value ew play. She's fit and is very gutsy. Again need quite a few in the exotics.
race 7 Baratheon should make them gallop with just 50kg and this is his ideal trip. He is my pick. Belgarion is the class horse but carries 62kg and is unlikely to be at peak fitness yet. Young Love is a useful stayer but also comes back from a break. Flower of Saigon ran a decent race at Fairview and must also have a shout under a low weight.
Race 8 If he is 80% fit then Jet Dark should win. Silver Operator and Rocking Ringo have both shown their well being recently and should ensure a decent pace, and should be involved in the finish. it will be interesting to see how Golden Ducat and Rascallion do after their injury enforced breaks.
Race 9 A very competitive race to end the day. Max the Otter looks progressive and is a worthy favourite. Cheeky Laddie gets 2.5kg from him and will challenge. The other 3yo William The First has a tough draw to overcome. Tizona may be the best of the older horses and Radames has fair KZN form. His local debut was not too bad and he should come on from that.
I have Major Winter running. I bought him off the Dispersal sale because I bred him. He is very lightly raced due to a couple of very unfortunate incidents when clipping heels and falling in earlier races. His comeback run in September in Jhb was not bad. He is now running off what looks a competitive rating. We have been focusing on feeding him up and putting condition on him, as he arrived in CT very thin which was upsetting. His work on the sand and cinders has been pleasing, but he has not had a grass gallop in CT. Unfortunately pulled a lousy draw and this will be his first time on a left handed turn. We are not sure what to expect, but I'm hoping that he gets some luck in the race, and is running on strongly at the end.

Another 100-1 first timer winning in SA.
I doubt anywhere else in the world these type of opportunities get missed by the connections.
Fools make horses of you is true way too often with our racing.
