This race was known as the Germiston November Handicap and won by the likes of Wolf Power, Foveros, etc. Northern Princess won this race when Senor Santa was omitted on the grounds that it will not get the distance. It led to the match race between these two and Northern Princess won. Senor Santa did win the FNB 1600.

In years gone by in Mid October it was the OK Gold Bowl.
