Trainer's Comments suggestions

One swallow doesn't make a summer but good to note the stipes actions. Maybe they never got on lol.... many larger stables have done the same in not giving any confidence to punters but stipes took no action.

To those who got on... well done.To us regular donators we just battle on....

In my opinion, rather say nothing at all! Not only do I feel misled and basically robbed, I also wasted an hour of my life listening to all the BS and now you still need to try and decipher the comments.

The Clif Miller guy however did tell us to include their horse in the last at 100/1 and it ran a length behind the winner that was also mentioned by Montana! In that case, I dont mind doing my money at all!

However the comments on Ushuaia was diabolical!

.....dont be so hard on these people.....as over the years I have punted horses that delivered and the trainers of some of them are still totally flummoxed on why and how they won...:whistle:

.....also I have seen some trainers give interviews and babble on and on about some dog they have racing later on the card and hardly anyone takes any notice and lands up kicking themselves when the trainer is interviewed again saying I told you so.....:ohmy:

.....seen trainers work horses prepping for a big race....and the working companion wins at 100/1 in a lessor race on that big race day...:oops:

.....or a trainer raids a centre with his good thing....and the travelling companion totally unfancied trots in....:blink:

I have had many horses with Sharon over the past few years, mostly weaker horses that haven’t made the grade in CT, but also quite a few decent ones. As an owner, I rate the communication from her stable to owners better than most trainers, including the major stables in the main centres.
I was on the road yesterday afternoon so did not follow the racing, and apart from small ew sentiment bets on my runners did not play.
I can say from personal experience that Sharon does not push her 2yos going into their first race, and consequently they generally improve significantly with a run under the belt. In this regard she trains similarly to Brett Crawford. This is not to say that the babies arrive at the course unprepared- they will have done enough to run properly. The question mark is always wether a particular horse will be green, or will settle and run straight first time.
While I agree that the comments in Computaform were unhelpful, in the interview with Nadine, the trainer states that this “ while this will be an educational run, she is a nice filly, and could run well if not green”.
If one looks at the field, the two fillies with well exposed form were Ladyhawke and Taufaan, both very moderate fillies rated around 60. This was a very weak field, and the latter ran 4th, with another first timer running second.
Peach Daquiri won very well, and was never shown the stick, and I rate her run here MR 84, un extended and with presumably a lot of improvement to come.
She is a very well bred filly from the CTS Book 1 sale.
Instead of a stable conspiracy, maybe this was just a case of the winner standing out on breeding and looks on the day and having very little to beat in this field?
In my view this is a very exciting prospect, as I don’t believe that she would have been wound up for this race, and did it on natural ability, albeit that she beat a very weak bunch. Expect to see her in feature races, and I would think that the Gold Rush ticket holders will be knocking on the stable door.

the comment should have simply been "speedy filly" the "Educational run" was the dagger that killed Caesar.

Just to add on PeterD comments on very well bred filly. Sportingpost had an article during the week on "Broodmare of the year". The granddam is Peru.

Pomp And Power also claimed the 2021 Gr2 Concorde Cup.

Peru could arguably have had a Gr1 winner earlier in her career when her son Punta Arenas finished a controversial second in the 2015 Gr1 Vodacom Durban July. In total, Punta Arenas earned more than R2 million during a career which saw the Silvano gelding capture a trio of graded races.

The East Cape Stipendiary Board will be investigating local and international betting exchange patterns after the Vercingetorix filly Peach Daiquiri was backed and won the Fairview second race in facile fashion on debut on Friday.

Trainer Sharon Kotzen was questioned regarding the comments made by her that were published in the Racecard, Computaform as well as the respective betting movements relating to Peach Daiquiri in this race.

The first-timer was backed from 8-1 to 5-2 and duly hacked up under Louis Mxothwa to win by 8,50 lengths.

‘Shows pace,educational run’ was the comment provided by the trainer, who told the Stewards that the betting movements were not linked to stable support and that she had been open and frank with the On Course Presenter regarding the chances of the filly.

She added that her comments that were published in the Computaform were made before she had the opportunity to measure the strength of the field and the relative chances of her c harge in the race.

She further stated that the performance and the ease of the win of the filly had taken her somewhat by surprise.

The Board have adjourned to consider the statements made by Trainer Kotzen and to enquire into the betting patterns relating to Peach Daiquiri which will include local and international betting exchange platforms.

The fact is that horses make fools of us - case in point the 200/1 shot that just won the final race of the HK season :huh: maybe durbs can write to them on this terrible form reversal and here I was thinking it only happens in good old South Africa :dry:

This was not a first timer who's trainer said it was an educational run only to win by 8.5 lengths heavily backed.
We made to believe Peach Daiquiri made a fool of the trainer yet made no fool of whoever backed her.

Shortened 9 times so I really doubt the horse made a fool of a select few,they knew 100%

I can understand horses first time out can surprise. The betting moves on this horse though, suggest otherwise.

The gripe is the (deliberate) misleading comments, which brings the game into disrepute....all for a punt.

This, at a time, when others seem to be working hard and putting in truck loads of money to rebuild the industry.
