The way it won looks like it will get 2000m, the Cape Derby distance. Entered on Met day over 1800m. Hopefully it can provide Cele, Crawford/Rix with a Grade 1 win soon.

2/1 was available at the off.

I really enjoy when a trainer has loyalty to a jockey, which is the case here. Well done to the Crawfors/Rix team for keeping the faith.

Doesn't matter who one puts on a horse, if it's not good enough, the results will speak for themself.

Digressing a bit, Musir (the de Kock horse) look who rode that horse before he was exported.

If you watch the head-on, in the closing stages Aldo is squeezed between the winner and Shades of Red, has to check his mount momentarily, then just fails to get 3rd. Just bad luck, nothing untoward with his ride.

He chose to go that route so some blame must go to the jockey for making that decision and did he give it a full go to get 3rd once he knew he couldn't win?
Yes we all make mistakes but the world class jockeys just make less.

What decision? He is in the centre of the track with a clear run when the other two shift off a straight line and close him out. That’s shit luck, not a mistake.
