Have to agree on Belgarion, in the pre race interview Justin confirmed horse was only 85% fit for his last run but the way he moved past them in the straight that day gave me goosebumps.

He looks like a beast and I must admit, it will require a top class horse to topple this one in both the QP and Met.

Belgarion better hope Summer Pudding does not run in the Met cause she will go past him like he is standing still , the best horse in SA by a long way :woohoo:

My analysis of Summer Pudding:
(I've backed her every run)

- Beat a moderate bunch in Triple Tiara.

- Heads to KZN and wins the Woolavington.
Was in trouble with 150m to go.
Driving Miss Daisy finished second but hasnt won in over a year.
Lady Of Steel who finished third but doesn't see 2000m.

- Beats the blindschool in Summer Cup.
Second and third favourites won Graduation Plates to gain entry in the race.

Now she is the best horse in the country by a long way?

She has a difficult task on Saturday.
Cape Doctor and L-H Turn.

If she gets through that without much fuss then she could perhaps run 3rd in the Met.

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

My take ..... Summer Pudding obviously a very good filly - got to be to win the Triple Tiara, and the Summer Cup form has been franked with the 2nd, 3rd and 4th horses all coming out to win since - but imo SP should not be as high as 129.

In the SA Classic, she beat Magic School by 2 lengths at level weights - while in the Ipi Tombe, Queen Supreme beat Magic School by a little more than 2 lengths - giving MS 2 kgs; then in the Woolavington, SP beat Driving Miss Daisy by less than a length at level weights - in last year's Paddock Stakes, QS beat DMD by 2.5 lengths, giving DMD 4.5 kgs - granted that was 6 months earlier (so DMD had WFA improvement to come) - but for me QS is better than SP - we will see on Saturday

Can't see Queen Supreme winning over 1800m with De Melo in saddle.

Clouds Unfold seems to be maturing and finding the 1400s and 1600s a bit too short.

Miyabi Gold another danger.
Running fresh with Richard in saddle.

Dazzling Sun was finishing very well in Cape Guineas and could be anything over the trip with Ferraris on board.

Will be an interesting race.

Friday

Race (1)
Difficult opener to the day, Juvenile Plate where Winter Mosaic has to concede weight to the entire field being the only winner in the race. On the weight turn-around, Seeking Peace should theoretically finish ahead of Winter Mosaic, now 3.0kgs better off for a 0.70 length beating. Watch the betting on the first timers.

Race (2)
Another difficult race where an argument can be made for a few. Think the winner will come from numbers 2, 3 or 4, siding with #4, In Your Time. Finished 4th in a slow run race, but has shown some early toe in previous races. If not running flat, expect her to be running at them in the closing stages. Very open race.

Race (3)
Starboard, if staying the trip, is the one they all have to beat. Duplicity looks to be the danger from a decent draw. Katie To is proving expensive to follow and will have to improve lots from the draw. Our World comes out the same slow run race behind Dark Travel (Katie To as well), so going to brass these two (cringe).

Race (4)
Helen’s Ideal on ratings is the one to beat. Caught late last time over 1500m, if repeating those tactics, will be difficult to peg back this time round. Expect Our Prized Jewel to follow her home, although not ell weighted against Queen Of Quiet on their run to Drama Queen. Queen Of Quiet may need the run.

Race (5)
We can put a line through Capoeira’s last run, take him out the race, and anything can arrive.

Race (6)
Elusive Fortune is a runner here off that weight. Both Sleeping Single (524 days) and Flame Tree (405 days) haven’t won in a long time and their ratings have gone up for running places/being consistent.

Race (7)
Hard to oppose Celtic Sea.

Race (8)
At this point, any money won, save for Saturday.

I wonder if there is any betting out whether they will race, if they announce tomorrow after their meeting level 5 then that’s it. Will wait before I spend hours studying.

Betting is out for the two feature races on Friday, and the four features on Saturday.
