Despite the loads of scratchings, still a very competitive card - soft going to boot - watch out

Rocky Path looks value at 12's

PHUMELELA MEDIA RELEASE

SUBJECT: Today’s Vaal meeting moved to Turffontein

DATE: Monday 2 November 2020

RELEASED BY: Phumelela Gaming

Today’s scheduled race meeting at the Vaal has been switched to the Turffontein Inside Track.

The decision was taken after horses were galloped at the Vaal this morning to test the racing surface. A track inspection panel agreed unanimously that the track was very soft and inconsistent.

The decision was then taken to move the meeting to the Turffontein Inside Track, which historically drains well. More than 100mm of rain was recorded at the Vaal over the weekend versus 77mm at Turffontein.

The distances of races 6 and 7 have had to be altered as a result of the venue change. Race 6 will now be run over 2600m and Race 7 over 1450m.

Trainers were given until 09:15 to withdraw runners if they wished. Eliminations from some races may be necessary where field sizes exceed the maximum allowed on the Turffontein Inside Track.

In the last, Spanish Boy is priced up at 5/2 and Silver Master at 14/1 - yet on the run behind Holy Man (tougher draw today), SM beat SB and SM (same weights) is drawn better

Gone are the days when trainers worried about having odds on shots actually fit when brought to the races.
