PHUMELELA MEDIA RELEASE
SUBJECT: Time changes and carryovers
DATE: Valentine’s Day, 2019
RELEASED BY: Phumelela Gaming
With three South African race meetings abandoned this week due to inclement weather, and more rain forecast for Johannesburg on Saturday, Phumelela has opted to move Saturday’s Turffontein racemeeting to Sunday, starting at 15:00.
“Unfortunately, the weather is not something we can control,” said Rob Scott, Betting Executive at Phumelela.
“We can, however, control our racing schedule, and we have therefore made the change in an attempt to ensure that the Turffontein meeting goes ahead.
“By rescheduling it to a twilight meeting on Sunday 17 February, we are giving the Turffontein track as much time as possibly to dry out sufficiently to ensure that racing takes place on a safe surface.
“It also gives trainers, jockeys, the racing public and other stakeholders ample time to plan”
An additional racemeeting is now also scheduled for Wednesday, 20 February, at Turffontein.
Racegoers should also note that there is a Carryover of around R28,000 on the Quartet on the last race at Sunday’s Turffontein meeting. The estimated pool is R400,000.
Other carryovers include:
Kenilworth, Saturday 16 February, Pick 6 carryover of R350,000, with an estimated pool of R2 million;
Scottsville, Sunday 17 February, Pick Six carryover of R200,000 with an estimate pool of R1.7 million.
Turffontein, Wednesday 20 February, Pick Six carryover of R100,000 with an estimated pool of R1.5 million

Would love to see the formula used to work out the starting time of the 1st race...................
Starting at 12:00 or 15:00. The 3 hours is going to be critical.
Hold thumbs!

'"All the races from Turffontein on Sunday will be broadcast live on Tellytrack on channel 239 on DStv" - Why would they not be ?
They will be missing out on my R100 contribution - but all in all I think the changes made were forced by the weather - so 'racing' should be thankful that some alternative plans were made
