Punters face cash bonanza with Breeders’ Cup

PHUMELELA MEDIA RELEASE
SUBJECT: Punters face cash bonanza with Breeders’ Cup
DATE: Thursday 1 November 2018
RELEASED BY: Phumelela Gaming
South African punters are in for a treat on Friday and Saturday as Tellytrack will be broadcasting all the races from the Breeders’ Cup meeting from Churchill Downs, Kentucky, in the USA.
The Breeders’ Cup World Championships is a two-day, $30 million (R444million) extravaganza attracting the best horses, trainers, and owners from across the globe.
Because of the commingled pools, punters in SA must note that the minimum bet amounts vary between R2 and R32. But that also means they could be in for a cash bonanza as some of the pools are expected to be whoppers.
The Breeders’ Cup has become the unofficial end and culmination of the thoroughbred racing season, often with the Breeders’ Cup Classic being the deciding factor in Horse of the Year. This year is no exception.
The 35th running of the Grade 1, $6 million Breeders’ Cup Classic drew a field of 14 horses plus two also-eligible entrants. Eleven of the entrants enter the race off a win or a runner-up finish in a Grade or Group 1 stakes race.
Accelerate is the bookmakers’ favourite at 5-2 odds on the strength of winning the Grade 1 TVG Pacific Classic Stakes and the Grade 1 Awesome Again Stakes.
However, Mind Your Biscuits may draw similar odds, entering the race off an easy 4 ¾-length win in the Grade 3 Lukas Classic Stakes at Churchill Downs.
Among the 16 entered are six horses who are 3-year-olds. Three of the last four editions of the Classic have been won by colts taking on their elders.
One of the 3-year-old contenders is Roaring Lion, who is racing on dirt for the first time and who enters the Classic off a win in the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot in England.
Another 3-year-old is Catholic Boy, who is attempting to win the race in the same manner as Arrogate did in 2016 when he won the Grade 1 Travers Stakes in his most recent race before the Classic. Another top 3-year-old is McKinzie, who was on the road to the Kentucky Derby this year before being injured. He won the Grade 1 Pennsylvania Derby in his most recent race.
Other potential contenders are recent Grade 1 Jockey Club Gold Cup winner Discreet Lover and the horse he beat by a neck in that race, Thunder Snow, who won the Group 1, $10 million Dubai World Cup in March. Another horse proven at the Grade 1 level is Yoshida, winner of the Grade 1 Woodward Stakes Presented by NYRA Bets in his most recent race.

Hi guys an exotic question?
Re: pick 6 co mingle
Do we punt in rands or is it converted to dollars?
Eg lets say in the States the pick 6 has 100 winners of $10000 and you have a winning co mingled ticket do you get $10000 at the exchange rate in rands
Or is the payout just based on our local tote /open bet where we use the kitty split by the winning tickets?
It might be a silly question but i dont follow the hype about us buying into this massive $ kitty
Good punting

I cannot understand the logic in running Roaring Lion in the Breeders Cup.
The horse is 5th in the betting, which shows how the bookies rate his chances, and has had a extremely tough season and is racing on dirt as well as having travelled half way round the world to run yet another race at the fagend of the season.
He has been my horse since i selected him to win the Guineas-against Saxon Warrior-who was everybody's choice.
He didn't win that day but after the Derby ran some great races and is supposed to be going to Stud.
Why this extra race, with odds against him AND the chance of injury risk.
Can't understand it.

And anyone who got it would have been so pissed off.
It paid a whopping R14-70.
Yes R14-70 according to Tabgold.
Surely can't be right as the jackpot paid R182.
Something definitely not right there and we need an explanation from the tote.

The Pick 6 paid R920. The R14 dividend could be a consolation dividend for any 5 winners of 6 legs.
