The NHA will only take action for non-payment of a racing account if proof of not payment is provided. In other words a judgment is obtained in a court of law.
Trust me there are many poor payers amongst owners but then it if not much different in all business in the RSA.People bounce cheques on a daily basis and their bank does not close the account but happily collects the fee.
Worst in order FNB,ABSA,STD then NEDBANK.
Overseas you have your account closed and will battle to get a new bank to accept
you.

Scandal and sour grapes at the races
July 12 2008 at 12:42PM
By Bronwyn Gerretsen
A flyer distributed at last week's Vodacom Durban July, which claims that a director of the Racing Association "does not pay his racing accounts", has embroiled the horse-racing industry in a scandal that involves racism, sour grapes and vengeance.
The flyer, portraying photographs of the association's marketing director, Peter Naidoo, warns people to "beware" of him and was distributed at both the yearling sales on the two days before the July and on race day itself.
While rumour has it that the pamphlets were distributed by a horse trainer who blames Naidoo for having to sell some of his horses for which he couldn't pay and who has also been taken to court by the Jockey Association, this couldn't be confirmed.
Naidoo also refused to comment on the matter, saying his attorneys were dealing with it and would call a press briefing to set the record straight.
However, Naidoo has vehemently denied the allegations in the flyer and lashed out at "cowards" in the horseracing industry who he said were trying to defame him.
"I don't owe any Natal trainers money, nor do I have any horses running in Natal. The cowards who refuse to name themselves or approach me hid behind pamphlets and tried to defame me. It is a disgrace that such people still exist in horseracing," he wrote.
He also blamed Gold Circle security personnel for refusing to remove the flyers from suite toilets on the day of the race. He said they were "arrogant and useless".
Naidoo further wrote: "To add salt to the wounds, these cowards phoned and threatened my family and myself. Some words they used were 'You Coolie bastard occupying a posted (sic) that belongs to a white man' [and] again I received a call to say that I will 'meet the bullet'."
He said some trainers he worked with possibly disliked his approach as he was "a director who looks after the interests of the owners". He added that he removed horses from trainers who "lie and make false promises" and who "inflate their bills and add extra vets' costs".
"I also removed horses from trainers who purchase horses from breeders and inflate prices to generate a fraudulent profit for themselves. In all these cases I have showed them proof of their wrongdoings," he wrote in the letter.
Naidoo said he wanted the public to know that he distanced himself from the information contained in the flyer. He has opened a case of defamation with Durban police and said they were investigating several suspects who he believed were responsible. Gold Circle said it was "aware of a smear campaign against a prominent racehorse owner regarding unpaid training fees" but added that it wished to distance itself from the "unacceptable practice".
"The company is not in the business of collecting or monitoring training fees," its media release stated.

Someone went to a great deal of trouble and cost to print and distribute what appears to be thousands of these pamphlets to discredit P.N.
Whatever the motive, GC should not have allowed this to happen or continue to on July day (or any other day, as it appears these pamphlets were everywhere on the day).
Then GC issues a press release distancing themselves from it !

Cuckoo, yes the poor chap is innocent until proven guilty, however how is this GC's problem?
These pamphlets seem to have been distributed in the same way as most junk ads are.

By all accounts, Hacker, GC was well staffed on July day.
When they became aware of the smear campaign/pamphlets (which they couldnt miss), they should have spared a few personel and removed said post haste.
By all accounts they appeared to have done nothing in that regard and then issued a press release distancing themselves from it.
They should have distanced themselves from it by way of action on said day.

Fair enough Cuckoo.
But I have noticed a strong tendency for people on this forum to say 'x & y should be done', but it's often a very subjective opinion.
Perhaps you should have said 'it's a pity someone with authority in GC did not act on behalf of P.Naidoo' It IS possible it was not ignored by the time they noticed, and I don't mean by the parking attendants.
But who knows?

This is a discussion forum, Hacker.
In this instance, as an owner/stakeholder in this industry, one can only discuss and debate what should have been done to protect another owner/stakeholder whose rights were violated, and how a simple measure of respect of those rights were ignored by the very authority we prop up.
My brother and i owned a shopping centre and prided ourselves in protecting our customers rights, be it service or their safety, acting pro-actively rather than after the fact.
Time will tell how this turns out but GC are culpable in not protecting the rights of an owner/stakeholder.

Thanks, Bravo. Not to mention his impending 'sports model look'.
