only typical because people u name and shame should take legal recourse if you can't produce evidence of wrong doing.

Anyone close enough to the powers that be to see the stakes agreement / formula ? It seems that some of the problems in the industry can be solved by increased stakes (which have not kept pace with inflation at the very least) rather than increased take-outs and salaries and dividends in the operators...more going into the hands of a few, as seems to be the status quo, is not the solution... :(

....there is no single silver bullet fix....increasing stakes with no more gravy is a hard call and not possible and if it was .....the trickle down effect and small grooms chop may not be enough..... there needs to be a direct bottom up injection or benefit of a form of a subsidy.....the Racing Trust may need to be divorced from the RA and overseen by more diligent people that are not batting for PHUM... ..it has to be run like a trust should be..... with regular audits to ensure checks and balances.....does any one know who is on the board besides the last one published post 2014 changes....or is this and the financials only privvy to the RA and the operator to whom they seem to regard as their master.....

Finally, the greatest insult to anyones intelligence was the sell off of Trust shares in Phumelea to pay for the acquisition of Supabets and at a price that all the fools that "invested" were unable to offload for a period and will be taking a bath. If it wasnt so pathetic it would be funny. The trust holding of Phumelela shares has diminished from 38% to 25% and we all sit on our hands and allow the raping of racing to continue. You Ra members are.so stupid you paid for the act.

I see that the National Horseracing Authority has issued a press release stating that it is currently working with industry players to formulate a strategy to include and engage the grooms more effectively in the horseracing industry.
The NHA has acknowledged that grooms are the largest group employed in the horseracing industry and need an officially recognized status, both within the NHA and within the industry. The statement goes on to say that it is critical that an official national representative body is formed so that all issues are dealt with as soon as they arise.
This is good news indeed and we hope that that the NHA acts sooner rather than later.
