I have great respect for Darryl Maree as a tipster, but I never heard his reasoning on Liege .... for me on form the horse had no chance
Dont want to sound as an ARM. I backed Liege. It ran 4th in the Summer Cup last year. If it had won this years Jubilee Handicap it would have got a run in the July. The Summer Cup was its third run after the Jubilee, its cherry ripe run. It has an impeccable record on Good to Soft going and yielding.

Delpechs head was continually looking right in the last 200m to see where Nother Russia was. He switched his whip about 150m out but took ages to do so and then he only starting using it properly when it was clear that the race had already been won by Nother Russia. The stipes should question Delpech why his head was hanging right  and why he took so long to get the horse going. If Lerena or any other good jockey had ridden Bipot, it would have won going away.
Jurgs, while I am not sure if Bi-Pot would have won with any other jock, I disagree with the sentiment that Delpech didn't try hard enough. He got stuck into the horse from around the 400m mark, and only looked to his right at a few strides from the finish. Bi-Pot was finishing strongly, and only went down by 0.2L. I had a small bet on Bi-Pot and in no way do I feel aggrieved....beaten by a better horse on the day.

Imo would have gone very close in the Cup, very poor decision to not include her in the final field

The other jocks were a lot more animated in the finish than striker. I'm not sure if he dropped his whip or if he thought he could win without using it....or maybe Striker ran out of steam after a long day. IMVHO, I don't think he rode the horse like his life depended on it.

Thanks bud ! What is the stipes job then ? Surely they could of seen this plus the horse got a bump close to the line considering the winning margin why no review of the race

Must be honest I didn't see the head-on. I'm sure the connections would have objected if they saw something

As for the ride from striker....not the first time I've seen this from him. The only time I will confidently back him is when he rides for MDK, Sean tarry, or if he is riding for Mayfair.

From Stipes report re bumping: "Shortly before the finish line MAXIMIZER (K de Melo) was bumped inwards by KINGS ARCHER (P Strydom), which rolled in and was immediately straightened."

For me this was the race that benchmarked Liege as the top performer of all the runners at 1800m , and suggested that he could repeat this run under virtually the same weight, at 2000m and would be good enough to win. The winner also had to be mature, and had to have featured in the race before.

and it was this run that led me to assess crowd pleaser as the biggest danger - one oversight here being that this race didn't really represent class, and was a polytrack race - which form usually doesn't really translate well to GAU - but I figured a horse that could lead and win over 2200 on the polytrack had to be something special.

Yes you are right I missed the D and seeing the G though it was the polytrack. in any event - I apparently completely over-rated that one. --- or perhaps as per my initial suspicion - he was used up too much in the front of the race.
