Picking the winner in a race like this is more an exersize in futility - however:

I normally start off by rating the horses on seasonal performances, and then calculating forecast odds for the runners. This will be evaluated against distance suitability, draw, weight and current condition as best it can be gauged. Included would be angles of historicity -influential bloodline, past winning trainers, etc At this stage I would be interested in any anomalies between my forecast odds and the actual market.
So this could be one preliminary option.
